Return Dates for Louis last year was 5th April 08.15 and Aila 6th of April 09.24

The happy couple last year - lets hope its not too long until we see them safely return from migration.

    11.42 Louis landed on the nest, looking a trifle damp!  Rain drops on the cobweb might be a give-away

    He bounced on the moss, before flying off a couple of minutes later, 11.44

    Another update from Liz and her telescope   #WeAreSoLucky !

    17.45 It looks like the ospreys are spending more time at the other platforms. At the moment there's one perched in a dead tree very close to the platforms. There was a bit of nesting activity earlier and I've not seen any sign of them around the nestcam area when I've checked.

    George's update this morning:

    LATEST NEWS AS OF WEDNESDAY MORNING*******************

    We are not seeing much action within the view of the nest camera at the moment. Louis has however been on the nest every day at some point. He dropped by at 11.42 yesterday.

    LizBs observations on the ground tell us there are ospreys spending time at one of the other platforms in the forest. It seems likely this could be Louis and the female we have seen fleetingly.

    So it may be that Louis raises a family out of our view this year. There is still time for the action to switch back to our camera nest though. And for all we know an entirely fresh pair of ospreys could come and take it over. Birds are still moving around the UK. And you never can tell, Aila may show up yet. In which case you all ask, what will happen if Louis has a new female at a new nest? In which case i answer - I have no idea!

    Stay tuned.

    Patience may be rewarded.

    Wednesday morning update - no sign of any ospreys around the nest cam area this morning so far, but over at the other platforms around 8am there was a single osprey perched on the nest which flew off, and at the moment, 10.10am, I can see one perched in a nearby dead tree (again at the other platform site). The area has a lot of dead trees so quite tricky to find where the perches are. It'll be interesting to see if they decide on favourite spots which would make finding them much easier!

    As I was gathering the above post, Louis (I think) landed on the nest, defending it from a hoodie.  It was a brief visit

    He landed at 10.24, generally looking around

    and then the hoodie arrived.  Louis wasn't a happy bunny, and got in a bit of a flap!
