Although they didn’t use the webcam nest last year, Laddie and new female, NC0, successfully raised one chick within the vicinity of the Loch. Blog hereHoping that both have a safe migration back to Lowes, and delight us with their presence on cam this season.

I was just going to post the same, Mary :) It appears that trees surrounding the nest have been cut back. Has a perch been added to the nest? Gosh, it looks so different compared to last season!
Thank you for the info and snaps, MARY - it sure does look different, and if ospreys like a long view they've got it now
Karen W said:I always wondered if the state of the nest contributed to NCO and Laddie abandoning it
Laddie had worked so hard on that nest, over and over again - I think the intruding humans were the straw that finally broke his back and his heart. And of course, NC0 wouldn't have bonded with the nest at that stage.
IMAGICAT
It actually looks like the nest has been taken back to its bare bones - which was much needed, as you can see from my 2015 photo just how deep it was.
This is the nest in 2012 - Lady's perch broke off one year and only a stump left, although I think Lassie did sometimes sit on the stump.
Photo taken from the screen in the VC.
A photo I took in 2015 when visiting Lowes - look at the size of the nest yikes!!!
This was in April 2019
So all the refurbishment should really help this season.

. Has a perch been added to the nest?
-----------------
Sandra I don't think there has been a perch added, it has just been taken down to one of the original branches and it has been chopped off.
Birdies LG DU update.
