The three juveniles are thriving under Mrs G and Aran's continued care, proving once again what formidable parents they are. Long may the season continue to be be hassle-free as it nears the time for migration

  • 03 September

    MrsG stayed for 1 minute:

  • KC4 was on the nest for 2 minutes:

  • Fuzzy MrsG landed on a fuzzy nest because I've only just remembered to reset the YT resolution.

    That's better:

She's hardly stopped preening and yacking:

    IMAGICAT

  • Still thoroughly preening on the perch
  • She got a big, firm, headless flounder from Aran - I hope she didn't drop it, as she was very anxious to get away with it when the juvie arrived:

The brother and sister are still waiting on the perch, preenng.

  • It was a lovely flounder breakfish ! Thanks for all the early news and captures Scylla

They waited and waited until well past 09:30, then flew off.

Here they are, waiting again! ...with KC4 giving us a look!

KC4 had a bit of a tantrum and fliew off dipping over KC3 (but the dip was blurred) and the cam followed her away into the distance.  I was watching at the time, "Is this it?", I thought, but no.

Here she has just returned, see how the cam attracts attention:

FISH !!!  Flounder, KC4 got it:

Looks like Aran hasn't eaten today!

FISH !!!  Only three-quarters of an hour after the last delivery !!!  It's all a blur, what do we expect when KC3 is sooo hungry?!

KC4 left half a flounder on the nest, KC3 ate lots of his fish and flew off with the rest:

I know you can't see much of the fish but it was a nice zoom of KC3:

Aran had caught the fish and eaten the head in three-quarters of an hour:

KC4's leftover as KC3 flies with his:

MrsG mid-preen, she started @ 12:51, had she had a dip?  (We didn't get a zoom to cut out the cam smudges):

    Aran's 2-footed delivery - he's on a roll !!!

    Unstarted:

    Unwanted !!!

KC3 preferred KC4's leftover cos it had bee started ;)  He flew with it:

Empty cam until MrsG came and had another preen:

At that moment KC4 arrived on the nest, expecting fish? ... but none materialised.

I had to do a double-take on this bird before realising it wasn't an intruder but KC3 with breast and rings glared out:

Unusual departure, he dived down vertically, no flyaway seen:

KC4 was on the nest waiting and shouting all that time until she changed to the perch:

KC3 arrived and they waited on the perch together, until...

By the time the cam got to the nest, KC4 was standing on a FLOUNDER:

But never fear, KC3, here's Dad with another FISH !!!  But it looks tiny, and the one-hour clip ended at this point:

We didn't get to see a "normal" view of it, but it should keep KC3 going overnight ;)

KC3 soon polished that off, then he went to the perch and back and MrsG came to see what she could nick.

    KC3 did his up-stare again:

    He got KC4's leftover:

After the juvies had flown, MrsG picked over the nest:

    Then she waited, shouting occasionally:

Another desperate pickover found meagre morsels:

Aran must have had a fish but not for MrsG:

At this point, after expectations were dashed a couple of times, MrsG flew and left the nest to the slugs:

  • Some great late captures of this family. Isn't it a bit late for them not to have gone yet. Maybe not.
  • Out of 16 previous seasons, Mrs G has only left in August four times, and her latest departure (or more correctly, her 'last seen' date, possibly not her actual departure) was the 13th of September 2015. Last year she left on the 9th of September according to the Imagicat website. Aran stays even later. His latest 'last seen' date was the 25th of September in his first year at Glaslyn, 2015. Last year he was last seen on the 16th, again according to Imagicat.

    Kind regards, Ann
