Beautiful female, Rutland's CJ7:
The hoped-for partner for CJ7, local male LS7, has not yet appeared. CJ has been tending the nest daily and yesterday she took everyone by surprise, producing an egg - which took us by surprise by surviving... until midnight at least ;)

The Hobby tends to be confused with the Peregrine. They are fairly similar to the untrained eye.

Another nice Raven visit - quite an entrance:
A quick on 'n off:
Back again, little bit longer stay but not looking pretty-faced when perched, so here's just the departure:
About 16:00:
No more visitors up to 02:50.
I thought my colours had gone wrong - this must be a Woodpecker but I can't think which one
And then a Redstart that perched for 2 minutes but punctuated its stay by flying up and straight back to the perch several times. I haven't edited it - I was packing up and just thought I should do Poole Harbour first and - dang, wouldn't you know?! - these 2 birdies appeared and had to be dealt with.
Still plenty of migrant ospreys passing through Poole Harbour. I had five sightings this morning over Wareham Channel. This one flew near me with a tiny fish, held the wrong way round. There is a ring (metal?) on the right leg. Click on the photo for better quality.
