Beautiful female, Rutland's CJ7:
The hoped-for partner for CJ7, local male LS7, has not yet appeared. CJ has been tending the nest daily and yesterday she took everyone by surprise, producing an egg - which took us by surprise by surviving... until midnight at least ;)

Teatime visit, but no fish:

She was chipping on the campost @ 19:04, I found it by studying the cam tremors very closely - but it's not possible to tell whether there was more - if she had a louder voice I could put it into an audio editor and look for the spikes... not! because the wind is so dominant.
EDIT - Take-off heard @ 19:11, only a few seconds off 19:12.
I've often noticed how defending ospreys seem to look in the wrong direction
Unknown said:Thanks, Richard. Nice to see two ospreys on the webcam! I wonder if it was a female, the way CJ7 was behaving.
Didn't see you here while I had my head in the nest ;)
I have known females to mantle at males, and wondered why CJ wasn't shouting at the bird if it were a she, and hoped it was an exploratory male :)
What interesting news!

"Exciting events on the webcam this evening, an unringed intruder has come by the nest, eventually flying off with CJ7! We don't know whether it is a male or female yet. Watch this space..."
Plus a vid of the event.

Going thru last night/this morning's footage I've been wonder if she followed the 'intruder' away. Very exciting, thanks, Sheila

I was hoping someone had filmed from on-site, no such luck.
No nest visit up to 07:45, but CJ7 (presumably) landed on the campost with 2 chippy chirps @ 06:06 and took off @ 07:11 - that's just going by the bumps and sounds.
