I didn't do my thru-the-night
She was sleeping like this for quite a while!
Otherwise uneventful.
Ian S said:Brilliant sight at 04.28. At 04.28.10 (ish) Louis can be seen flying to his perch from behind it. Aila is calling so what does Louis have. After sitting on his perch for a few seconds, he can be seen flying through the mist to the nest. He has a very nice headless fish with him. Aila takes it immediately but hangs around on the nest for a couple of minutes before flying with the fish in the approved manner.
Aila's return was a blur in the air:
Louis brought it back:
Aila took it away... I think:
Hatch #1 - a bit of a non-event!
Louis has since brought in a clump:
I spent half an hour fretting and googling because I thought I'd lost the hatch footage :(

14.15, nice view of the chick at approx 14.11, 14.15.24 and at 14.16.09 to 14.16.23. It looks like it is fully out of the egg at 14.20 if not before. Ian
15.03, Aila has been watchful and shoots off the nest calling. Ian
EDIT - she is back at 15.06.

15.09, only now does she settle. She had disposed of one part of the egg a while ago, but the other "half" was still in the cup. Momentarily it looked like we had three eggs and a chick!! The second part of the egg has now been moved from the cup for the benefit of those like me who are easily confused Ian
15.17, Aila decides to start moving a stick about, I can barely watch. Ian
Here's half the egg

You can just see the chick's head. You can certainly hear it!

No lying in for Louis eh! he is on the ball these days - practising for when the chicks arrive. I haven't heard the chirps from the eggs yet Ian, but will go to your time and check.
