Morning, no activity so far today. Liz B (who as you know lives at Loch Arkaig) says the stuff Aila brought in yesterday is Old Man's Beard, a lichen that hangs from trees. I don't recall seeing it on the nest before. Ian
08.26, Louis brings in a small headless fish. Aila flies off without it but soon returns (maybe a comfort break) and takes it in her talons. Ian
It's bit damp this morning

15.35, good sized headless fish from Louis. Aila initially takes it in her beak, jumps out of sight of the camera and by the time she is seen again it looks like the fish is in her talons. Ian
Aila was alert all night as usual but suffered no major intrusions:
It looked like powdery snow on her back :o
Lovely misty morning :)
Breakfish:
As reported, Louis dropped off a stick, Aila had to sort it:
Who was this who startled Louis?
Maybe a couple of ducks got "flushed" out of the loch?
Afternoon tea - Ian reports that she swapped from beak to talon in the air:
Louis brought a reasonable stick and was placing it reasonably well, when there was a sudden panic and they both flew - my theory is that Louis was still nervous from the "duck" whizz-by, and now Aila caught him unawares when she took off. He soon returned and settled down.
The Old Man's Broom was caught on a talon:
18:50 Aila returned, she was still incubating @ 19:25.

19:38 Louis brought in quite a nice little stick but poked Aila in the eye with it:
He flew off to the right but then around and out of the left of our picture:
The raindrops rolled on Aila's well-oiled feathers, then the powdered-snow effect:
That's where we are now :)
Aila still covered in a dusting of snow or frost
