Last season Louis and Aila arrived on their nest almost at the same instant on the 4th of April. Here's to a repeat, but a few days earlier to save our anxiety.

12.59, Aila is gently fish calling & Louis comes back with the fish he had at 12.15 (see the edit to my 11.30 post). Aila initially looks like she is going for it but instead she flaps him off with a stern shout. Then she resumes fish calling. Ian
13.27, Louis (I assume) tries to bring in the fish. Aila doesn't even let him land. Ian
13.26 Louis flew in with what looked like a large piece of bark, rather than a fish, did a brief touch-down and flew off over the back. I think he may have done a circle and is not sitting above the nest, presumably with the fish.
Flying back over the nest?

13.33 Aila starts to call
13.44 Aila is ready for Louis to land. The osprey which I assume to be Louis, 13.45 Louis is back, mantling over the fish. Or is it an intruder? Alia crept up behind him and appeared to flap him off
13.46 she moved toward 'us' and pick up a large piece of fish which was already on the nest and flew
But returned, followed by Louis?
I have to fly too but there is a lot of too-ing and going with Aila holding the fish, and she flaps the bird off, which I am beginning to think isn't Louis
Team analysis please!
I'm late must fly
13.44 to 13.47. Louis tries to land again and eventually does despite Aila trying to stop him. She eventually pushes him off. In the kerfuffle I think the fish ended up on the nest, which Aila flew off with. 13.50 to 13.53, Louis lands followed by Aila (who has the fish), Louis looks very cowed. Eventually she manages to flap him off. She eats a bit of fish on the nest before flying. 13.54 to 13.59, as above she is making Louis distinctly unwelcome. 14.01, Louis comes back to the empty nest. Ian
14.26, Louis alarm calls from the nest, Aila joins him. They both look very alert. Things calm down enough for Louis to take the fish remnants from Aila at 14.31 & fly off. Ian
EDIT - I've just noticed in all the drama that Louis tried to mate at 13.48, needless to say it wasn't a success!!
Sandra P said:She's certainly trying to get him off the nest. Can't be Louis?
She flapped him off the nest a couple of days ago as well. He also had a fish then. Her behaviour is strange but it does look like Louis to me. Is this a sign she is broody? Ian
