This was one of my last posts on the very sad 2019 Season which is a summary of what happened.
All we can hope for is that the unringed female returns and also the male KR3 she was bonding with last season. There is still a little part of me that hopes to see the return of Green BF though.

Darren has posted a tribute to Green BF on the Balgavies Loch Facebook Page
The loss of both EJ and Green BF has been a blow this season. All we can hope for is a better season next year.
A lovely post by Darren and his wife.

Some wonderful photos of Green BF from Darren - Green BF was such a great provider, watched him bring in a good few fish.
Farewell dear Green BF, you did good son! the really sad thing is the not knowing what happened to him, we never get closure. One little part of me cannot let go so next year in the Balgavies hide I will be waiting for a miracle!

It is great to see all the threads already started by everyone for the various projects/nests, lets hope all our pairs arrive home safely and it is a good season for them all.

After this sad season at Balgavies I would like to leave with some memories from years past.

All we can wish for is they both return safely and that next season is a more productive one for them.

Hopefully next year I will manage to visit Balgavies Patily if they return, sadly by the time lockdown restrictions were lifted in July the first place we went was Grantown after those two weeks away there was hardly any point in going up to Balgavies. I have missed my trip there, because as Roberto says its a lovely place to visit.
Kind regards, Ann
Thank you, Mary, for the illustrated summary of Balgavies birds, great photos from Darren as usual. The close-up taken by Keith Brockie when Blue YD was ringed is very valuable considering difficulties in reaching the nest. Thank you for quoting me, I'm indeed looking forward to visit Balgavies again.
Great news to hear that Blue YD has been seen at Guardbridge

MaryGK said:It is one of those places he always turns up at Sheila, although I don’t think he stays around there as he has been seen too often at Montrose Basin during the season and of course he usually likes a wee visit to Balgavies now and again
There is a white tailed eagle nest at Tentsmuir which is nearby, I suppose there could also be an osprey nest though I haven't heard of one. Ian
