NEWS FROM OTHER NESTS - 2020

No traffic of any kind seen on Clywedog (I call it Clive-dog, we'll have to get a pronunciation demo from that Dyfi guy ;) )... and have had to turn off the download because it started flooding me with failure files.

Barnegat Light

Great excitement at breakfast time when 2 unringed* ospreys were obviously in contention, but only one at a time seen.  YouTube streams cut off @ 6 hours and my downloader takes 15 seconds to attempt to pick up again, by the time of the next clip they were gone.

*I understand that the resident male is ringed.

EDIT - only corvids seen for the rest of the day, for much of which the lens was awash!

A YouTuber called Arlene Beech, whom I'm subscribed to, has uploaded "Audrey" bringing in the very first nest material to a new platform at Chesapeake Bay.  Having never seen an osprey nest built from scratch, I'm hoping that Arlene will continue to follow - the old nest did have fans so I'm hopeful.

Scylla I now live in Wrexham, and did a term of Welsh evening calsses. Clywedog and Llyn Brenig are my closest ospreys. If you go with Clyooedog you won't be far away.

My sister moved from London to (near) Swansea, I don't think she's taken Welsh lessons yet - but that'd be more desirable in the north, I beleve.

Scylla, round Wrexham there is not so much Welsh - the second language is Polish - apparently there has been a significant Polish community since the aftermath of WW2. Further west past Conwy to Anglesey the ability to say hello in Welsh is important. One thing I did discover is there North Welsh (Cymraeg Gogledd) and South Welsh (Cymraeg De) are different - the beginners text books diverge on page 5.
