• Many thanks for the new thread, Sheila.

    Kind regards,

    Ann

  • In previous years I think some of the Lake District Osprey nests have been included in this thread. I thought it might be more helpful to have all the LD nests under one title, rather than have to search on the general thread. If you feel this is wrong, or there should be individual threads for the LD nests, I will happily amend or delete.

The title is 2019 Lake District Osprey Projects - Bassenthwaite; Esthwaite Water; Foulshaw Moss NR & Roudsea Wood and Mosses NR and can be found here

  • From Rolf Wahl
"2nd Osprey back in the forest of Orleans on 23rd February.
It's the female ,orange ring with 02. She was ringed in 2003 in the Parc of Chambord some 80 Km West of the forest of Orleans. Many people were gathered in the public hide by the Ravoir pond. An Osprey arrived in the afternoon and perched on a big Pine on the opposite bank from the hide. She was perched with the back to the hide at about 350 m from the hide.
It wasn't until late afternoon that Francis Couton could get a shot of her ring but not easy to read. With his computer he later enlarged the ring an saw it was 02. What is surprising is that she came back so early this year. Last year she arrived 02/03."
  • Thanks Alan. Another indication of an early year - perhaps!
