CROW are being super helpful! Update from CROW on E17 & E18 from the Southwest Florida Eagle CamFeeding time! These two eaglets have had very healthy appetites and are eating a lot. Our rehabilitation staff currently has them on a feeding schedule of four times a day. Each feed, which consists of chopped rat, mouse or quail pieces, is weighed out based on the body weight of the eaglet to ensure they get the needed amount of calories to keep growing. One of the biggest concerns for our team is imprinting on the young eaglets. To avoid this, the staff wear veils that hide their faces. We also administer any medications right before or after they are fed to minimize the amount of human contact we have with them. This is a short clip from their 4pm feeding today! They certainly are quite messy eaters. We filmed the first feeding after their intake exam in its entirety and have posted the video here: http://bit.ly/Es1stFeedAtCROW
They're both looking very strong. Fingers crossed they can go back to mum and dad soon

That feeding lady is so nimble-fingered and organised, I'd lose track in no time... and get bits everywhere
Thanks again, KORKY :-*

I'm told that it was DAD!
In the morning a Raven came back to check - note the strange call of Australian Ravens - I did a vid a while ago asking "what birds make this sound?".
Then the Rainbow Lorikeets - I've never seen one of these be mean
Then we got 2 Sulphur-crested Cockatoos!

I was so surprised to find Flying Squirrels in the snowy night - I haven't seen them at Boreal Ontario for a long time.
Very busy during the day.
I couldn't get a good view of one of the woodpeckers' beak, the other looked like a Hairy:
Red-bellied:
Great Spotted:
"No-mess" bird food:
Red-breasted Nuthatch (I know cos I followed it from afar):
Packing-up time here now, due to heat.

More from CROW Update on E17 & E18 from the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam nest: The two eaglets continue to have strong appetites this morning. Many have asked about a timeline for their return and we want to assure you it will be as soon as we possibly can. The infection needs to clear before they can return. Thankfully, the eaglets are responding well to our treatment because of the diligent work by our veterinarians, veterinary technicians and wildlife rehabilitators.
