The 2 chicks were ringed on 4 July and assessed as female. They were given ring numbers JJ0 and JJ2, and later named by popular vote as Mallie and Rannoch. Both weighed 1.49kg on ringing but will weigh a lot more now after a further month's-worth of protein-packed-piscine-parenting. The WT subsequently said they thought Mallie may be male. S/he fledged on 20 July and Rannoch on 27 July.

11.29 Rannoch flew left to right below the nest, and then landed and immediately started calling with passion!
She pauses
then started calling again
Now a mix of calling and silence

And lo, there was fish. A flat, flapping, flounder.
Oh dear. It's still alive.
A large flounder delivery a couple of minutes ago ca 13.10. She is holding on to it, and continues to call now and again, but hasn't started to eat it.
Looking around
13.17
13.19 she has a cross word with the flounder! Where do I start!!
Served with a tasty crust of nest!
Kind regards, Ann
Checking in. ENS on a lovely sunny afternoon
At about 14.00 she was still eating her flounder
she then chattered to herself, her fish, the World, and flew off with the remainder of her fish
