The 2 chicks were ringed on 4 July and assessed as female. They were given ring numbers JJ0 and JJ2, and later named by popular vote as Mallie and Rannoch. Both weighed 1.49kg on ringing but will weigh a lot more now after a further month's-worth of protein-packed-piscine-parenting. The WT subsequently said they thought Mallie may be male. S/he fledged on 20 July and Rannoch on 27 July.

I don't think she really likes flat fish!
13.00 she is now beginning to tuck in to the fish

14.06, Rannoch comes to the nest calling, that is because Louis is bringing in another whole flat-fish. Ian
Rannoch left soon after my last post - in scroll back
ca 14.00 Louis brought another flounder, a larger one this time. Rannoch took it eagerly, and held on to it whilst looking around. Is she waiting for Mallie to come to try to half inch it, I wonder!
and then she flew with the fish. She didn't attempt to eat it on the nest
Kind regards, Ann
17.40 she is down to the tail end now, pulling at the skin.
Tail fin goes down now!
and she checks for leftovers before she picks up some twigs, moving one to the edge - cleans her beak on her talon again and calls for fish number 4!
and she flies off at 17.44
