The 2 chicks were ringed on 4 July and assessed as female. They were given ring numbers JJ0 and JJ2, and later named by popular vote as Mallie and Rannoch. Both weighed 1.49kg on ringing but will weigh a lot more now after a further month's-worth of protein-packed-piscine-parenting. The WT subsequently said they thought Mallie may be male. S/he fledged on 20 July and Rannoch on 27 July.

I checked last year's thread for August. They had camera problems and we could not see the nest for much of the end of the season. Liz Bracken said she saw them both on 16 August, when Louis skydancing.
I've got a note (no idea from where but I guess it was the cam chat) that Aila and Louis were still around on 20 August, but nothing after that.
The last post on the Forum from Ian S on 8 September said that There haven't been any reported sightings since 02 September, I think we can call the 2018 season at LA well & truly over.
Perhaps Louis is having a spot of 'me time' at the moment and building up his strength, hinting that perhaps Rannoch should be spreading her wings.
11.55 another loud plaintive call from Rannoch.

After another call she flew up to the perch, and then flew off 12.04 sweeping down the valley, circling to the left and heading back behind the nest - I think

PATILY - On WT they thought it was 07:30 but my video showed 08:53 and they corrected it later.
Rannoch is back, I can't tell from her shouts whether she sees anyone (or a fish) or not, I don't think she can tho.

Has someone's hanky fluttered into the stick tree?
Chat reports that Rannoch is eighty days old today.
It is interesting to compare with Tiger & Chloe's data on Glaslyn and for Dyfi - Rannoch, and indeed Mallie, is still young to migrate.
I'm packing up now, reluctant tho I am to desert dear Rannoch ;-* SYAL!

Is that Dad up there?
