The season so far: Maya arrived back 14 March and Blue 33(11) on 23 March. Maya laid 4 eggs 2, 5, 8 and 11 April hatching 11, 11, 13 and 17 May. The four chicks were ringed on 21 June as follows: #1 Blue 054 (F), #2 Blue 055 (M), #3 Blue 056 (M) and #4 Blue 057 (F). Further details of their vital statistics can be found here.

Maya now arrives picking up and eating the remaining fish

What a state it is in. I doubt very much if she would be able to fly off with it.
I watched scylla's video of 056 and the blood. I agree with others that around 05.57, we see him start to pick up something from the nest, in front of the fish, and from my observations of the ensuing footage, it looks like some sort of line. From this point on he is struggling to swallow and seems to stop feeding from the fish but concentrate on trying to pull out whatever is in his mouth with his left foot. Around 06.03.00 I first see blood (not sure how this ties in with the Marie video timing), and he continues to struggle to pull out whatever is in his mouth until then end of scylla's video around 06.04.43. Maybe he swallowed a fish hook and then tried to pull it out, or there was a fish hook swinging from whatever he swallowed and it caught externally on his throat (ie external vs internal blood). Anyhow, the important thing is that he is observed feeding normally (or with less of a struggle and no more bleeding), but of course, the frustrating thing is that there's nothing we or the folks at Rutland can do about it anyway! These birds are on their own now for the rest of their lives, more's the pity perhaps!
056, now 63 days old, has returned to the nest with the fish piece

33 arrives with a fish which Maya takes. 056 continues eating his own fish
Yes, it would be nice if 056 was to take some nice fresh fish from Maya for he still appears to be struggling a little.
Another juvie has arrived and Maya feeds it along with herself while 056 perseveres with his own
Is this a bone hanging from 056's beak?
