HAPPY NEW WEEK!
I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
Next Friday is Friday the 13th! LOL
I don't have a picture for this week, but some might be interested in this very short video. Just the other day, a 5.3 earthquake occurred in Southern California near Annette. The quake startled the daylights out of a bald eagle who was on a high nest with three chicks. No birds were harmed!
Hope you're okay, Annette!
Annette: I had some initial, emergency work done on the roof, and it's not leaking anymore. Luckily, I got it done right before the big rains. But a new roof and other repairs will have to wait until I have the money. I did get an estimate from the roofer. Hope you're okay.
It's so cold here that none of the usual birds have migrated back yet.
Unknown said: Hello to everyone. I'm glad that EJ has found a companion. Annette: The last of March, I had a major blizzard with a foot of snow. Then last week, temps warmed up, and I had a series of monster thunderstorms with torrential rain. My little creek turned into a raging river and flooded. I had water gushing through my backyard, and I was under an evacuation order. Luckily, the creek receded and it didn't reach my house. Then temps immediately turned cold again and I've had more snow. I don't know what's going on. LOL!!!

I'm going to blame the Orange Menace and his refusal to believe in climate change.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Good Morning. A bit grey and misty here, again.
Exciting events for the LG nest with the final arrival of a beau for EJ.
We had a busy day yesterday: Enjoyed our soup for lunch at Bents Garden C., but I thought it was a strange colour ------ then I took off my glasses and realised that I was still wearing the sunglasses I had worn for the journey!! My OH went back out to the car to fetch my ordinary specs for me. I did feel foolish. We had big bowls of yummy green pea & ham soup, and shared an egg mayonnaise sandwich. Bought a new bird feeder and a tray of cute Violas, also some pea seeds for the allotment.
When we got home, the sun was still bright so after a teabreak we set to and got in a couple of hours, tidying the garden including cutting out a big rambling rose which had lots of dead parts in the middle - it's very pretty and I'm sure that after a bit of a lean year this year, it'll now recover and be beautiful again. Bonnie helped (!) whilst we toiled, by digging up some lilies which were just looking promising, and trying to unsteady my big Bird feeder pole........
Diane -- I've never known much about Indiana, and am agog by your frequent extremes of weather. Glad your roof is secure, for now at least.
Another hot day tomorrow with extreme fire danger. Hope yesterday's fires don't flare up again. I'm off to spend the evening with book and a/c.
Weather extremes seem to be affecting most continents, at least in part. Maybe it will settle to a new normal in a few hundred years!
Got horribly wet going for blood test this morning - and unfortunately they are fortnightly again after changing from oral to injections (don't ask me why - same dose!) OH has at last got the cold which has been threatening him for at least a week, and I am miserable again - with a painful shin - may be just wear and tear, or could be bruising from the footrest of the wheelchair hitting me - usually it's my toes which get hurt when we go out - he forgets they are in front when he pushes the chair!
J has mislaid a wallet - the one with his driving license in! I don't know why he is always losing things - very annoying.
Can't think of any other rants at the moment - excuse this old grumpy!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
OG: This too shall pass (at least that's what they keep telling us).
Diane: One day at a time (that's what other folks keep telling us).
I've managed to pull, twist, wrench, bump any number of joints/muscles over the last month. You can probably hear the creaking and sweary words across the Pond. :-)
ANNETTE - sorry about all the bumps and bruises - does this mean you are rushing about trying to get everything done? Have you ever thought of slowing down a bit?
Sorry you're being bumped and bruised, Annette - do take care. I find that I get bruises these days and don't know where they came from. It can certainly make bits of you ache when you spend too long gardening! Take care :-)
OG - You sound as if you've had "one of those days" today. Take heart from the idea that tomorrow must be better ;-) I hope that J has found his wallet.
Hope that poor AQ has had a cooler night. Worrying when there are fires. See that the sun is shining in The Gold Coast, from the C. Games!
