EJ's Memorial Balgavies Loch Ospreys 2023
Visited Balgavies Loch yesterday in the morning and took some photos. You are all used to see Darren's stunning pictures, but this is what I can offer...
Quiet morning with no intruders. The entire Balgavies family was in sight. The female, Mrs.BF, spent most of the time in the nest with her two chicks, shouting for food.
In return, Green BF landed on the nest with some sticks. To tell the truth, also the female brought to the nest long sticks and this was possibly to keep chisks safe as they are becoming more and more active, but I believe Green BF was assumed to go fishing instead.
With the female getting more and more noisy, Green BF moved on the sorrounding trees.
Finally he went fishing and returned few minutes later with this big fish.
The female joined Green BF on the dead tree, but he started to eat rather than sharing the meal with the family. I always feel for the fish, but that's nature.
Green BF finally delivered the headless fish to the nest. I guess this behaviour is also to protect the chicks from the risk of being knocked off the nest by a big fish, if this is still alive.
I was observing Ospreys, but somebody else was observing me.
I returned to Balgavies today at sunset. I believe I took some other decent pictures, but had no time to see them yet. Green BF retuned with the last fish of the day at 9:50 PM and this left to me no time to do anything else. Hope to add some pictures tomorrow.
Wonderful photos Roberto! Thank you

Thanks, Mary, but I'm not on Facebook!
Kind regards, Ann
Aww that's a pity Ann as Darren's photos are beautiful.
Darren was at the loch last night and posted some of his usual cracking photos on the Facebook Page
Click on his report to go to the post on FB. I would have loved to have seen Mrs BF shouting at him. :-)
When watching White UF (his previous partner) I always thought she was a rather placid Osprey.
Here are some photos for those not on Facebook.
Awwwww! :-)
Darren has posted a video of a feed he took at Balgavies on the FB Page Link to his post

A bit outdated, but here are some photos taken on the 16th in the late afternoon.
Also a bit late, I returned at Balgavies on the 18th in the morning and took some photos. There was a persistent intruder (unringed and I cannot tell for sure that it was the same bird in all events) and the female was busy in defending the nest, until Green BF returned with a flat fish and took up the duty.
