HAPPY NEW WEEK!
I hope everyone has a wonderful week.
I've chosen a deer picture this week, because a doe white-tailed deer and her twins have been visiting my house every night at dusk to eat my weeds. :-) The little male is very feisty and bold. His daddy is the impressive old buck who often sleeps in the brush by my garage. Everyone here is eagerly awaiting the Total Solar Eclipse. At my house, the eclipse will be 93% total. I'm not going south to the path of totality. Best wishes to everyone!

A beautiful bird, LINDY. I don't know what it is, either! maybe someone on here will.
It is a beautiful morning here but some rain expected later. what a wash out of a summer we have had, here.
I had a long telephone chat with a friend last night. She was widowed just over a year ago and has had a few knocks since then which have impacted greatly on her ability to grieve 'properly' for her dear husband. The latest is that her daughter is not allowing her to see her two young grandchildren. It really is complicated and awful and not something to be discussed here but I feel so very sorry for her.
No real plans for today, gardener is coming to cut the front and back grass and I should be raking up fallen leaves before he comes. My back is still painful when bending etc, so not sure if I will manage to do it. Will have a go, though. I have a leaf blower/sucker but it is very heavy to use. I prefer to use the plastic lawn rake and big plastic 'hands' to scoop up the leaves.
Hope you all have a good day..
Good morning – and it really is - warm and sunny. OH is getting ready for another visit to dentist – he woke with toothache, unfortunately in a tooth which holds his denture plate! J set off on time for work.
Will try to remember second part of yesterday! I think the afternoon was quite dull and I watched TV, then chiropodist came. OH and I both fine. J hasn’t had his toenail removed yet (awaiting minor ops appointment) so she reduced the nail again, but didn’t dig at it this time so no blood or dressings! Evening was fairly routine and got to bed early as planned.
Dibnlib – glad to see you back to long swims. Enjoy the lunch today.
Annette – pickle with the cheese! No butter, but may have had mayo on the accompanying salad, I can’t remember!
Heather – so long as you enjoyed the salmon pat‘e on toast, that’s the main thing. I am sure that if we eat sensibly most of the time, the meals balance out through the week.
Lizlfw – nearly missed your little post – good to encounter you again. How are things in the Fort?
Clare – enjoyed your photos again.
Linda – glad your guests arrived safely and Amber and Bonnie enjoyed their reunion! Don’t know whether there was weather here in the night – certainly didn’t hear anything as I slept better than I have been.
Should be cleaning day today – depends how OH is getting on at dentist. May just need to wave a duster in preparation for Daughter visiting Saturday!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
HEATHER - posts crossed. Sorry your friend is finding things so difficult with family disagreements - no help to her at all. Sorry to see your back still hurts - take care clearing the leaves! Maybe mowing gardener could clear them for you with the leaf blower.
OH is feeling okay after having an emergency extraction - more put out by missing lunch than losing the tooth! An extra tooth is being added to his plate which should still fit okay - can collect tomorrow afternoon.
Poor EE! I'm reminded that I must make an appointment for a check up. Usually they write but since I phoned them to take OH name off their list, I've heard nothing. Maybe they have taken me off the list, also.
Really nice lunch at "The Star in Ardersier then back to friends house for warmed blackcurrant tart and blackcurrant meringue muffins baked by the 17 year old granddaughter of a neighbour who is visiting here from her home in Berlin. Friend is having a busy birthday as this evening she is going to a cocktail party hosted by the R&A at Nairn (her husband is the Captain of Nairn Dunbar golf course) and then on to a meal with her OH at The Golf View. Hope to see her for coffee tomorrow after she has gymed and I have had my swim. Hope she feels up to it.
Love blackcurrant anything, DIBNLIB and so good to hear that you had a good lunch!
Progress of the Balloon flower:
Flower no3 looks as if it is devouring its younger sibling - sorry - it really isn't cannibalistic!
For anyone who loves corvids and raptors........you've absolutely got to follow this link!
She is one of my favourite photographers on here.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
