Osprey at Hilton Head right now
Forgot to post before, I see that Aviemore Ospreys has reported that CROMARTY is back.
Another one back, which is always great news.
EJ's Memorial Balgavies Loch Ospreys 2023
That is good news on Cromarty
Thanks, Mary, Great news about Cromarty!
Kind regards, Ann
Today I was visiting in that direction so I called in at Roudsea Wood Nature Reserve, just to see the notice board. There was an osprey update of 8th May to say it is definitely male white YC of the last 3 years and an unringed female, and they do have eggs. YC is from Glaslyn 2008.
Thanks CHRISY
I was at Roudsea late afternoon on Tuesday 9th and saw a bird (presumably the male) take off from his perching tree and fly over the viewing platform before heading off east. He returned 15 minutes later with a small fish and landed on the electricity pylon to the left of the nest, where he ate the fish before flying off to the east again. He didn't give any to the female though.
There was a cuckoo calling all the time I was there.
Oo sounds good, I was thinking when there I must return soon and go down to the viewing point this time. I have just got a new permit, had forgotten they only last a year!
Thanks for the reminder! Think mine's about to expire too.
Whilst reading the local paper in the Strath i am very disheartened to read that some clot buzzed green DY at Loch Insh with a drone and unsettled her enough to remove her from the nest and her eggs. How stupid can a person get apart from illegality of disturbing a breeding bird.
How disgusting....and mindless
