Happy New Week! We’re back – Son is ok. He was facing a court appearance re an allegation against him, but in the end did not have to appear and is in the clear. Not a nice experience.
Been to LG and LotL – and got new long lens for camera! More tomorrow. Thanks for all the support – so pleased to be back here with you all!!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Morning All; Early rain but none at the moment. The wind is not nearly so strong. I heard on the news that wales had gusts of 80 mph last night. With the trees in full leaf, that is extremely dangerous. dibnlib, sorry about your garden. You really are getting plenty of heavy rain. auntie's picture is on page 2 ot today's Daily page.
I really must do some HW this morning, but hope I don't miss any chicks fledging !
Good morning all just on my usual catch up. We enjoyed our Strictly Come Dancing Show, the second time we have seen it and actually thought it was better this time around.
We had very high winds yesterday and last night we got out of the theatre and into the car just in time. Teriific winds and torrential rain which lasted all night. At long last my lawns are starting to look a bit green again. Promised some more heavy showers this afternoon too.
Have a good day all.
Margobird
I know I have probably missed you but have a good break original goldfinch.
HI EVERYONE.Thank you for all your sympathetic comments about my Sally.
A in SC. Yes, I keep looking.! I 'rescued' Sally because I had just put my previous beloved Labrador bitch into the long sleep after 16 years. When Sally was let out of her kennel she ran up to me, sat on my feet and put her nose between my knees. How could I refuse??? I don't give up hope.
To go back in time. I think the ducks look like a strain of Muscovies. Hope I don't offend anyone's sensitivities but they are very good eating.
I've spent so long reading 213 posts and looking at all the interesting pics (such sharp focus) that I now have little time left. Just to say that LG has sent the wind in my direction and it's devastating my garden, again. The juvs. still look bedraggled.
The mind is like a parachute, it doesn't work if it's not open.
Good morning Brenda H thought the weather was rough here in Poole but obviously your weather was even worse. What a nightmare journey for you. Sorry about your garden you don't expect it to be quite so windy this time of the year. My roses have been ruined, some even snapped off right down to the ground. We certainly seem to get some extremes where weather is concerned.
Good morning Cathie and love the pic of Tommy no-tail. It is wonderful how animals can adapt isn't it.
thanks BRENDA for where to find the fish pic
Oh Dear I've got lots to say & lots to reply to, but no time for it all!
Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip and the Show, margobird, even if it was a bit of a nightmare journey.
Thanks to TerryM for the lovely Osprey pic, its very clear and they look just beautiful.
I too have problems with putting the dates on forms, cheques etc. - I find I am often in the wrong century, but then my OH is not surprised by that!
Annette: The house in the clematis picture is the large 4 bedroomed house next door, owned by the poor lady now in hospital (she must rattle around in it on her own). You can just see the side wall and gable end of our house on the right of the picture - our archway leads through to a path past the side of the house where we hide the shed! We have a bungalow which has been extended and enlarged at the rear, (& in the attic) so it does in fact look very modest from the road at the front - but its like the Tardis in 'Dr. Who' (which is much bigger on the inside than on the outside ;-) ! ) The clematis is already showing its pretty seed heads now & has not lasted very long this year as the flowers all came at once in the hot weather we had last week.
Went to the local supermarket this morning & when I came out I got clonked on the side of the head by a very fast and low pigeon flying over the car park! A passing woman laughed which I thought was a bit unkind, but she could probably see that I was not hurt, just surprised. 1st time in my life a bird has flown into me. Off to wield the hoover now.
Morning all: Quick hallo. Today is the day the carpet cleaners are finally doing the (old) bedroom carpets. Hurray! So must take advantage of mostly empty rooms to get to hard-to-reach places, do window blinds, baseboards, etc.
AQ: Looked for Peter James book at library t'other day but nary a one - will check their online site and see what I can find.
Lindybird: Thanks for reminding me about the Paul McCartney autobiography.
TerryM: Diito about the Wallender books - have seen just two of the TV shows and didn't realize they were based on books.
dibnlib: I'm in a long line at the library waiting for Stieg Larsson's 2nd book.
Margobird: So nice you enjoy your evenings out! Good for you.
Quietwoman: Rescue dogs are wonderful - my daughter's had three of them; we inherited (when she moved a while back) her fussy white cat. (Dog's have owners; cat's have staff!)
I'm reading two books right now: Cutting for Stone and The Women (about the women in Frank Lloyd Wright's life - v. famous U.S. architect who was a bit like Picasso when it comes to relationships methinks, but could be wrong. Did some beautiful buildings - "Falling Water" the most famous perhaps - but most of them leaked.....
OK. Gotta get moving. Take care all!
Lindybird sorry about the pigeon, must have given you quite a fright. I just had to dash out in the garden as a starling flew into the kitchen window. We have these butterfly sticks that the birds can see on a lot of our windows but now and again one still manages to do it. Starling alright I hasten to add probably got a bit of a headache now. Bit late for hoovering though.
