Happy New Week! We’re back – Son is ok. He was facing a court appearance re an allegation against him, but in the end did not have to appear and is in the clear. Not a nice experience.
Been to LG and LotL – and got new long lens for camera! More tomorrow. Thanks for all the support – so pleased to be back here with you all!!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Back from town with friend, Once again resisted the cake, how good is that!!! Friend bought a nice top from Country Casuals and I bought a small painting of a rather endearing chimp entitled "Babe in theWood" from the Inv Art Society Exhibition who are holding their annual display in the Eastgate Centre. OH shook his head when he saw it but has admitted it does look good in the kitchen which was my plan when I saw it.
Keep looking at the nest expecting no 2 to have fledged but it obviously has not happened yet - unless someone can enlighten me otherwise.
Hi, I've been a Good Girl, too! (see dibnlib above) - went shopping with Friend, & advised on various bathroom fittings which we looked at, also spent money but only in our imaginations in the Camera dept., & then she bought some small bits & bobs, but I managed not to buy anything until we got to M & S: where I bought some food for the weekend as planned, but we both succumbed to buying an Orchid, (growing in a pot) as they were such good value at only 4.99 - as we told ourselves, they last for ages & ages so are cheaper in the long run than cut flowers. Came home triumphant having had a tasty lunch (open chicken/salad sandwich)
Now trying to find everything to cook meal tonight, as OH decided yesterday to fill small holes in plaster in the kitchen ceiling & paint it, Did the filling bit yesterday, now he's painting....so have moved e v e r y t h i n g that's not fixed from the room - had no idea I had amassed so many ornamental things! Also all the mixers, toasters, mugs, plants etc.... at least it will look nice & fresh when he's finished.
Thanks to dibnlib for amusing Harvey story.
Nice to see you on here, Cathie.
Off to cook now...... 'Bye
I'm back after cooking & eating, to add a pic of my garden again..... this is the other side of the wooden archway, where we have a pretty Clematis - after the flowers are finished, they turn into little fluffy balls before falling to the ground, & its just as pretty as the flowers themselves when the plant is festooned with them
OG: Hope I haven't missed you. Have a wonderful and safe trip!!!
Lindy: That's a lovely picture, and such a beautiful place you have! Thanks for the St. Swithin Day mention this morning; I enjoyed reading about him and the tradition.
This is our little Tommy no-tail. I thought that they needed their tails for balance, but it doesn't seem to worry this little guy.
Cheers, Cathie
Dibnlib – oh you are so good, resisting the cake!
Lindybird – food and a bargain plant? That’s what I call sensible shopping! We had that lovely yellow Clematis beside our front door in Lancashire – another thing we left behind.
Diane – I am still here so far – sneaking on here while OH waters the greenhouse veg – just been to ask neighbour to look after them while we are away.
Cathie – thanks for picture of poor wee Tommy!
Will you just confirm for me that it is Summer. What is usually a 40 min trip, took us twice that time earlier this evening. The gales had blown down a very large tree which then brought down the overhead electricity lines, just on the edge of our village. We were diverted miles away so that we could approach the village from the other end. Our garden is covered in leaves and twigs, just as though it is Autumn.
OG, Hope you have a lovely holiday. I had a good laugh about making a Toga out of my new sheets. What do I do with the pillow cases and duvet cover. On second thoughts, don't answer that.
Linda, Lovely photograph of your clematis. Our local forecaster reckons that we wont have 40 days of continuous rain this year.
Cathie, Thanks for your picture of Tommy No Tail. He seems to have adjusted very well.
Hi TerryM, I've just done a google to see where Bovingdon is :-) I've recently returned to the UK after nearly 40 years in South Africa. Also, I've never lived in England before, being a born & bred Glaswegian - so I've still got lots of places still to discover. I try to visit somewhere new (within a 20 mile radius) every week so I'm slowly but surely finding my way about.
CATHIE tail or no tail he is still cute, thanks for the pic.
Dillon off to the vet tomorrow for his annual MOT. From previous experience he will be good as gold. Fingal used to like the vet so much he would ask to go round twice!!!! now that would have been expensive!
Hi Cathie - just read the above - My brother emigrated to Johannesberg around about 40 years ago, & everything here has changed so much in that time I don't think he would recognise it all now - so you must feel that you are in 'foreign' parts yourself.
Nice pic of your little squirrel.
