Happy New Week! We’re back – Son is ok. He was facing a court appearance re an allegation against him, but in the end did not have to appear and is in the clear. Not a nice experience.
Been to LG and LotL – and got new long lens for camera! More tomorrow. Thanks for all the support – so pleased to be back here with you all!!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Morning quietwoman. So sorry about your dog. I can understand how you are missing her, as many on here will, we have also been through that pain and can truly sympathise with you.
I only read Richard's etc.'s reports and updates and very rarely say anything in the comments. Lovely to see you on here again.
Good morning Brenda H we have the same weather here. It is extremely windy and lots of rain overnight for which we are grateful. Lawns already beginning to look greener. I smiled about your shopping trip for some new dresses. I have done exactly the same myself. Couldn't find anything I liked and have come home with new tea towels or dusters. OH always says I know how to live.
Hope you have a nice lunch with your daughter. We are going out tonight when the weather is forecast to be at it's worst but fortunately we will be able to park near the venue.
Poor Alan I should think he will growing webbed feet in that rain.
Margobird
Ya'll talk funny! LOL LOL
Translations:
Buff: A tube of fabric that can be worn as a bandanna, scarf, face mask, tube top, wristband, beanie, etc.
Snood: A fancy hairnet. A close-fitting hood that is worn over the back of the head. A tight mesh band covers the forehead or crown, and then a loose sack holds long hair.
Strewth: A mild oath expressing surprise or emphasis or amazement. Sort of like "Geeze" or "Holy Cow" or "Dang". (Originated from the term His Truth, meaning God's Truth.)
St. Swithin's Day: (I hadn't heard of St. Swithin and found his story very interesting, so I'm including it here for anyone else who doesn't know it.) St. Swithin or Swithun was the Bishop of Winchester from 852-862. He was known for his piety and his zeal in building new churches and restoring old ones. He made his diocesan journeys on foot, and when he gave a banquet, he invited the poor and not the rich. (Hey, I like that!) He was said to work miracles during and especially after his death.
He had requested to be buried outdoors, so that his body would be subject to "the feet of passers-by and the raindrops from on high." Initially, his request was honored. But in 971, officials decided to move his body to a new indoor shrine. The people moving his remains were soaked by a very heavy downpour, which was said to be St. Swithin showing his displeasure at being taken indoors. Henceforth, whatever the weather is like on St. Swithin's Day, it will continue for 40 days. Similar stories are associated with several earlier figures, and the idea may even date back to a Pagan Day of Augury when augurs (early priests) tried to interpret the will of the Divine by studying the flights of certain birds (including ravens, woodpeckers, owls, and eagles).
Good morning Lindybird, it is very damp and extremely windy here but not moaning about the rain as we really need it for the garden. Like your workplace rules, all of them very true. Enjoy lunch with friend and spectator shopping.

LOL Your tour of nthn SCT reminds me of my travels there. I did a bus tour to bird cliffs at Duncansby. I also wanted to see the scenery on the west and as there was no tour to Durness I took the local bus there and back. It poured with rain but was a great day. More memories stirred by OG (Beauly), Lindybird (Wales) and DjoanS & ChrisyB (Ireland). Delightful colours on those buildings, never the same, and always so fresh-looking. Margobird you are not losing the plot. You are just oh-so-busily occupied with the osprey world. I collected m-o-b outfits this morning. I had warned Himself that one was bright pink (well, medium pink) but all he said when I returned was "Strewth". Now I must keep tummy roll under control. Wee bit difficult these cold nights watching Tour de France so late. I get hungry watching them exercise!!!

Hi aquilareen lovely post from you had me smiling. I am glad I am not losing the plot and will tell OH what you have said.

Quietwoman: I am so very, very sorry about the loss of your dog. I remember my own terrible grief and torment when my dog passed away. I hope you find solace!
Good (damp here) morning.
Lindybird – most of the biscuits are for LG and Son, but have put remainder in freezer for when we come back! Will set HDD recorder for penguin programme next week.
Dibnlib – I’d forgotten the lunchtime special menu at Rocpool, having decided I didn’t like anything on the sample menu online – don’t consider myself a fussy eater, but ….
Annette – I remember those days when we sang The Ash Grove, Caller Herrin’, The Londonderry Air, The Lincolnshire Poacher and all those national songs at school – don’t think they do that much now. And Dixon of Dock Green – ah, yes- my paternal Granddad didn’t have TV (didn’t have electricity until in his late 70s!) so he came to us every Sat to watch Dixon. He knew it was fiction (not so the Archers on Radio!!!) but when George Dixon said “ ‘evenin’, all”, he always replied “’evenin’, Jack”. I hope you are getting enough sleep for your early start today – take care!
AQ – actually collected your outfits, how exciting. Please remind us of the big dates again – my brain seems to dump more than it retains these days!
Dibnlib – hope your walk with Dillon stayed dry. Where do you swim? (sorry if I asked that before, see comment on brain above!)
Lindybird – I wonder if you will really only spectate on the shopping expedition?!
Quietwoman – Good to see you here again. The Ospreys have brought together a lovely crowd of people on this Chat thread – so friendly and always very caring and supportive in trouble of any kind. So sorry about your lovely dog. Many of us are or have been dog owners (or should that be “owned by dogs”?), so we can truly sympathise, having been through the loss ourselves.
BrendaH – I imagined you going out to meet your daughter wearing the new sheets toga-style!
Diane – night owl again, I see! Have you been to bed yet? Long-term weather forecast here looks just about as Swithun predicts!
Good morning quietwoman and nice to see you posting here. I have just looked at the official blog and dismayed to see that once again somebody is intent on causing trouble. I only read comments posted by the LG team and although difficult it is best to ignore people like this. Was sorry to read about your dog it is so difficult when you loose a pet who has been there for you for such a long time.
ALICAT I was also sorry to read that your dog had health problems too. Pleased he is on the mend now.
Morning all .. sunny and warm here at the moment, after torrential rain last night.
Quietwoman - lovely to 'see' you on here. Sorry about your dog ... losing a beloved pet is so hard. I only read the comments from Richard & Co on the main blog ... can't bear all the other 'stuff' that goes on there ... its much nicer on these pages!
Annette - sorry I forgot to mention that the owlet that fell was found in the barn and checked over ... it was ok, so was put back in the box. When I was watching last night it was climbing out of the entrance and sitting on the nest tray again ... obviously none the worse for its experience!
AQ - collecting your outfits must make the 'Big Event' seem much closer ... how exciting. Workplace Rules - #1 was definitely the one in my place of work!
Linda - enjoy your spectator shopping .... for the first time ever (Ithink!) I went to town on Tuesday and came back with .... NOTHING :-))) But thoroughly enjoyed it.
margobird - hope you have a lovely time tonight
Thanks to everyone else for chat/pics etc
'Lost the Plot Club' .... I must be an Honorary Member of that by now :-)

Good morning DjoanS love the idea of a "Lost the Plot Club". I seems from comments post there would be quiet a few members already.
