Weekly Chat (Non-Osprey), 1st May 2016

However did I manage to get in ahead of the lovely Annette and the excellent Diane to start this thread?  Goodness only knows.  Perhaps both ladies are all Trumped out!!

Have a good week, everyone - and special thoughts to Margo, her lovely hubby and Billie!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Well, the rain forecast for later this week arrived this morning although it's more like a heavy drizzle. Apparently the "real" forecasted scattered showers are still due tomorrow.

OG: Typical miscommunication at hospital by the sounds of it.  Rhubarb!  I love it.  EDIT: Just crossed posts - so it's  probably too late to say Have a good trip.

KeithG: That's a long drive with just one stop. Fall weather should be more settled - that's when I typically make my trips home to see the UK family. Two weeks of family with one week to recoup sounds like a smart plan. It's surprising just how much damage an animal can do to a car (then of course, there's the poor animal itself).

Lindybird: I imagine your wedding video will be highly valued by the family and grandkids at some point. I have a friend who's a real whiz at video/photography and she produces amazingly professional quality videos of family events, complete with background music and special effects. We in the meantime, are still ooohing and ahhhing over old-fashioned prints taken during sister and BiL's visit.

No word from AQ for a day or three; hope she's not on nanny duty.

Off to my regular workout at the gym this morning. Then we're off to dinner tonight for a belated wedding anniversary celebration.

  • Have a good trip, OG - and safe journeys. You sound as organised as ever!

Annette - Happy Wedding Anniversary, whenever it was!  Enjoy your meal out. Are you going to a favourite place, or trying somewhere new?

Dentist was pleased with me and doesn't want to see me again for nine months - bliss! He also liked my short hairstyle these days and said I was now a "Glamorous Grannie!" as he used to treat my sons, and knows that we have now increased the family!

  • Oh vey! Oh heck! Lord help us! Looks like Donald Trump is going to be the Republican presidential nominee given that Cruz and now Kasich have bailed from the campaign.  I'll be pounding the sidewalks for the Democrats come Fall, but have told OH to pack the bags for Canada just in case.  Ugh.

Lindybird: Going to dinner a lovely comfy old place that - we just read - will not renew its lease on the building it's occupied for many years, choosing instead to close its doors later this summer. Typical! Trouble is, we're just not trendy enough for the new places (or crazy enough to pay their prices).  Congrats on being nominated Glamorous Granny by your dentist!

  • Thanks Annette!  ~  I know he was just buttering me up, but  I sailed out of there:  mostly though because I didn't need any treatment, for once!

Shame that your 'comfy old place' for dinner is closing.   Hope you enjoy yourselves, anyway.

I've just had some news........apparently I'm now a Great Aunt, as my brother's daughter gave birth to a little boy last night. (I have never met her as she was born and lives in S. Africa, as does my bro.)  News came from my Youngest son, as he sees these things on Facebook, and not from my brother, who has not written to me for at least 18 months.....  We had heard about the pregnancy but I was not sure when it was due.  Must go and ring some of my cousins, as the only people in the family that I can tell about this.

  • Lindybird: Congrats on being Great - as well as Glamorous!

  • Thanks for that Annette - I think!  LOL!!

If it makes you feel better Clare was a great aunt for the first time when she was 21.  She went on to be a great great aunt at 40.

I am sure you are as great in person as you are on this Community.

  • Aww, Limpy! That makes me feel better alright!

  • Diane, glad you enjoyed time with your nephew and neice. It does look as though the eagles were saying goodbye - how lovely. Now your back home hopefully they will appear and welcome you back!!!!

Lindybird - can't wait, love the Snowdonia range and with that in the background and the cottage at the foot of a small hill, sounds like heaven.

Brenday - yes, that's what we should have done with hindsight, must remember to do so another time a popular film comes to town.

OG - do hope you managed to sort Carlisle hospital out and that they understand you are now under your local hospital.

Margo - lovely to hear from you. Let's hope the transfusion keeps you going and so pleased you managed a meal out. Hugs to you both.

OH was out all day commentating - been glorious here all day. Managed to take bedroom curtains down for washing and put up reserve pair. Also managed to wash throws etc - spring cleaning coming along.

OH has now developed toothache so will have to ring the dentist tomorrow and try and get in before we go away - doesn't really want it whilst away. Oh the joys!!!!!!!

  • HeatherB - hope the visitors behave!! for you, I'm sure they will. Try not to get too stressed and enjoy their company.

Lindybird - which steam railway is that? Love the picture of "that" branch, you can make out a sort of stags head.

OG - see that you have sorted out the hospital appt.

I see another new one to the fold - welcome Keith.

Another dressing change for OH tomorrow and probably next week as well.

    Thanks for all your news.
