HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Last week's Chat thread is here. Check back, because there were a lot of new, long posts at the end of the thread.
Everyone have a wonderful week!
Annette, I did laugh about your comment about Sean Penn. LOL I even read it to my OH. I hope your OH wipes Lightning's feet before she walks on the cleaned carpet, while you are away.
Linda, Young dogs do like to 'help' with the gardening, especially if you must dig big holes. I hope your new neighbours do realise that you are shouting at the dog and not your OH. LOL
I meant to say, before, that my OH wasn't too upset about the bill for fixing the boiler - it was twice what we had expected originally, as he had been here for a long time, but nothing like the two thousand pounds he quoted us for installing a new one! He even gave him a tip!
Brenda - The house next door is still empty - the prospective owners have been holidaying in Tenerife this week, and were supposed to be signing things today, but well, it's a very long story, but there have been stories in the newspaper about a possible development in the fields behind us. I'm not going into it all here, and it could all take years, but of course it could put the new buyers off as the house has been altered with large windows to take in the views.
(Serves the developer right, we said, as if he hadn't taken two years to redo the house it would have been sold long ago!)
I might have to shout at my OH, LOL, as he's beginning to go a bit deaf especially when I shout from another room! This often happens as I tend to chatter on, even when moving around the house.
One of my favourite programmes in 15 mins. I really enjoy "Masterchef" and am so disappointed when the series finishes.
Good lunch; good day over all, including gardening in afternoon. Also had to buy replacement food processor - old one refused to grate carrot for salad yesterday, tested fine for circuitry, including switching, so must have been a short circuit in the motor - very old! Going into Dumfries for a few messages tomorrow - jackets from dry cleaner, Arts Centre for lunch and "Spring Fling" preview exhibition, Aviation Museum to drop off models. Then on Sunday church service includes a blessing of a marriage.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
You sound as if you're recovering now, OG. Enjoy your new food processor.
Dibnlib - I like the Celebrity version of Master chef these days, rather than the 'normal' version. But my good Friend loves it, and never misses it. She is a keen cook herself. I was sorry to hear about James Martin giving up the Saturday Kitchen, which is entertaining.
Sounds a successful and enjoyable day, OG. A full timetable for tomorrow, also. Pleased that you must be feeling 100% again.
Evening all: A busy but good day but just as I finally flopped down after dinner to watch the news, spied the cat tootling in my direction. I put out my hand to pet her, then realized she'd stopped behind my chair - where she was busy peeing all over the freshly cleaned carpet!! I nearly had a fit! There were lots of loud sweary words and the cat was dispatched unceremoniously out door. Grrrr. I'm wondering if she's reclaiming "her" territory - there's no indication that the diabetes has returned.
Lindybird: That's a shame about the development - I hate to see fields turned into housing/industrial developments. Is it the kind of thing the locals would likely rise up against? How would it affect your view?
OG: Good to hear you're back in your normal busy routine.
Off to bed soon. Wonder if Sean Penn will show up again. If so, I'll get him to clean the carpet.
Saw this little hummingbird sitting on the fountain the other day. He didn't budge when I approached but flapped his wings to scare me off. I was trying to catch the brilliant fluorescent scarlet patch on his throat as the sun caught it, but he wouldn't sit still long enough.
Good Morning. Lovely hummingbird, Annette. He was brave, not flying off! How annoying that Lightning has backtracked somewhat, and just when you've had it all cleaned. It could be that she's unhappy with it being too clean!
The development behind our houses is to do with extending a large nearby school. We might only get a cricket or rugby pitch behind us, which is not too bad, but to help with financing it all, some land may be released for housing nearby. This is supposed to be 'Green Belt'. The locals will be up in arms about this, I'm sure, which is why it may all take som e years to be resolved (hopefully).
