Weekly Chat (Non-Osprey), January 3, 2016

HAPPY NEW WEEK!

Last week's Chat thread is HERE.

Saturday evening was perihelion, the time when Earth reaches its closest point to the Sun for this year. Hello, Sun!

I hope everyone has a wonderful first full week of 2016!

  • We seem to be still here......  but then, I've been out shopping, followed by lunch. So don't know if the Site has been 'off'.

Very cold wind, here. Wrapped myself up in a new sweater to go out. I'm still limping, what with my dodgy ankle on the left leg and a sore toe on the right foot! Meeting Friend for lunch tomorrow, so with her still recovering from her knee op, we will be a wobbly pair!

Let's hope people don't assume the pair of you have been drinking.

Hope you both feel better soon!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Margo and OG: thinking of you both!

  • Thanks, BJANE.  How are you these days?

All was fine today - a bit of extra time on the couch as they needed to take X-rays.  Had a good lunch too on the way home - fresh tomato soup and a sandwich of goats cheese and caramelised onion (my "usual" at The Old Toll Bar).

LINDA - sorry the bad ankle is persisting - do you think you should get it X-rayed?  (Am remembering when Heather hurt hers a few years ago!).

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Hi all: Quick look in as very busy with one thing and multiple others.

OG: That lunch sounds wonderful - some of my favorite ingredients. Glad things went okay,

    bjane: Nice to see you.

Lindybird: Hope you and friend don't trip each other up tomorrow!

    Take care all.

[/quote]LOL, Clare - we hope we give the impression of modern "Ladies Who Lunch!" but not of the kind who have a liquid lunch! Ha! (Although we're not averse to a tipple in the evening.....:-) )

  • OG - glad things went OK today. You sound well organised, as usual!  My Friend suggested that I may have stretched the tendons in my ankle, which takes ages to right itself, apparently. Meanwhile, I'm walking around, but very carefully.

I had a little zzzzz this afternoon, and felt better for it. It was much colder here today, and changes seem to make me weary.

  • Just saw a silly sign (apparently from outside a restaurant?)

"Hundreds of innocent plants are killed by vegetarians. Help end the violence."  :-)

  • Hi All. I have had rather a full, busy day.

OG, Pleased everything was fine for you today, including lunch.

Linda, Take care of your ankle and knee. You don't want it to come back and haunt you when you are old :-))

Annette, I did laugh at the restaurant sign. Pleased you are getting rain at last, but possibly better if it wasn't so heavy.

The rain finally stopped and we had a blue sky afternoon, but the wind felt so cold.
