Weekly Chat (Non-Osprey), January 3, 2016

HAPPY NEW WEEK!

Last week's Chat thread is HERE.

Saturday evening was perihelion, the time when Earth reaches its closest point to the Sun for this year. Hello, Sun!

I hope everyone has a wonderful first full week of 2016!

  • Wendyb:  Good for you and dibnlib re animal rescue donations.

OG: I thought your medical appt was near. Hope the trip and treatment aren't too onerous.  Lindybird's idea of lunch en route sounds like a winner. I tell you, the entire earth and everything in it breathed a huge sigh of relief with the rainfall. We had several hours of steady rain yesterday; mostly dramatic downpours/storms today. No serious damage in this area though, thank heaven, although a huge old California Pepper tree outside the SB Mission came down - a combination of years of drought and sudden soggy soil.

Lindybird: I was in two minds about sudden dinner out (I had been planning to stop by the supermarket and be done with some grocery shopping), but it seemed smarter to go along with plan in  hopes of encouraging similar offers! :-)  I also have downsized the Christmas lights in the direction of thrift store (typically charity shops).

AQ: Good to see you.  Hope you had some respite from nanny duty. Are you back in the routine now?

    Have a good Thursday all.

  • Linda – can’t really vary the route – except maybe detours to different eating places.  Our intention is to have food on the way home: often, if not daily!  Starting with Old Toll Bar today, and back there Monday for their new menu.  Shopping days, journey will take in a supermarket sandwich.

Wendy – I had the four nights in option if I had agreed to go to Edinburgh, but preferred the chance to sleep in my own bed at nights by opting for daily trip to Carlisle, even though it is over the Border!

All – thanks for the good wishes.

    OG thinking of you.

You, too, Margo.  I hope your week is improving.

  • Good morning, all.  OG, we're thinking about both you and Margo.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Oh, joy......our cockatiels are mating again.

  • Claire (Mrs T) has just posted a thread to say the Community will be down from 10am for the rest of the day to carry out maintenance.  Thanks for the warning, Claire.

  • Thanks MRS T and CLARE for bringing this to our attention.

  • Oh!  ----And I've only just got on, after having problems with my In'net connection.......

    Have a good day, Everyone!

  • How curious - the maintenance doesn't seem to be happening at the moment!
