This is a continuation thread following the travels of osprey Breagha, hatched at Loch Garten in 2013.
I put together this table to set out the big events of Breagha's life, and his migrations. I might continue trying to get it to display better, but the links to LG blogs seem to work.

I am not sure if people know but a German osprey was shot close to where Breagha was a week ago.
I hope you can read this. See report of German osprey being shot
I can't believe this, just awful news, so so sad. I really thought Breagha would be coming home next year :(

Centre de soin LPO Aquitaine is clearly very angry about this death, and rightly so. I truly hope that Breagha did not succumb to the bullet.

Oh dear, it is so sad about both the German Osprey and poor Breagha. Fingers crossed for the next LG brood. Tiger, which LG Osprey hatched in 2000 did return?
Kind regards, Ann

If anyone can give me the last GPS co-ordinates of Breagha I'd willingly go & look. I've phoned the local head of the ONCFS (Office National Chasse et Faune Sauvage) who police the countryside & they know nothing about it. All wild animal deaths get investigated by them, they "police" the countryside. A lot of these woods are inaccessible unless you know them!
It's so sad but I'd like to know why he died.
Best wishes

From Jess' description in the blog, it sounds like the location is in the wood east of the sturgeon farm (the same place Rothes liked to roost), but the precise co-ordinates won't be on Google Earth until Mike H gets back from holiday and enters them.
If Mike replies to me, I'll put you in touch, but as the email address I used to contact him is an RSPB one, that probably won't be any sooner.
Hopefully Jess will also see your message on the blog, but I suspect she may not yet have an ID for the Community site (because the blog has actually been posted by Jayne Stevenson), so won't be able to contact you.
We will probably have to wait till after the weekend for the info.

The LG hatched osprey which did return is Green 2E
Apparently it was the runt of the brood and had a fishing hook and line stuck in its throat. The line was removed but not hook.
He was photographed again some months ago and presumably has a nest.
