GLESNI & NORA

Nora – White 03 - first arrived at Dyfi on April 9th, 2011 . She was the first osprey to lay eggs in the Dyfi valley in over 400 years and successfully raised three chicks in her first year of breeding as a three year old. Sadly, she only had one more year of breeding before failing to return in 2013.  She was, rather appropriately, replaced by her niece – Blue 12, who successfully fought off the competition and won the nest and Monty.  Visitors to the Dyfi Osprey Project and to the Facebook page overwhelmingly voted to give her a name - Glesni. It means blue or 'of being blue'. It also means fresh and new.  She has laid seven eggs in the last three seasons, all of which have hatched – she has four young who went on to fledge and migrate, with another three who are looking good to do the same.
