WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER (gasp!) 6, 2014

How can it be September; it was only just July......

  • Before I go out into the garden here is an aaaaaaah! moment for everyone, but especially for Margo:
  • Awwww, Lindy!  That's just gorgeous.

Glad you agree with me on the subject of spending at car boot sales!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Lindybird that is just gorgeous. What a beautiful face.

Safe journey tomorrow and have a lovely time. X

  • Oh LINDY That is just to adorable

  • Hi, all. I'm working on a freelance project, so I'm not caught up. Lindy, the new baby is beautiful. Heather, I hope the license problem gets resolved soon. Brenda, wishing your OH quick healing. AQ, I really enjoyed your travel photos! Margo, hope you will get to see all of the shows you've planned and spend more time with your sister.

Annette: I stopped in to say that I just read that Hurricane Norbert will top out near your city tomorrow. I hope you stay safe and have no damage.

    Take care, all.

  • Annette - Flowers in Mintaro garden - Red hot pokers, a daisy bush & a smattering of spring bulbs, probably white iris.

It is so windy today that my washing will blow away before it dries! On way home yesterday I bought 2 tomato plants. I shall plant them out tomorrow when we expect more rain as garden + wind = sinus headache.

Yesterday Dau organised them, us & t’other g-parents to meet for lunch at a cafe near their home. The twins arrived in style snoozing in their double carriage. Of course J woke up as soon as her mother had her first mouthfuls. I scoffed my lasagne (peculiar, tons of pasta & few slices of ham) & salad, so I could relieve Dau by pacing back & forth while s-i-l prepared J’s bottle. They have a kit with measured formula, water in bottle & a wee thermos to heat. Quite nifty but not fast enough for grizzling starving Miss J. Then L woke up wanting hers. With both g-ms busy with babies, I suggested that was why we were invited. When all tummies full, the g-fathers took over. We dropped in for an hour’s worth of chores. Dau is looking more relaxed. She says with the nanny help, she has time to play with LM . . . and she is planning to start cooking again. This is LM on her daddy’s lap amusing herself with stickers while we waited for food delivery. I didn't get a chance to snap L or J, sorry.

  • Evening all:  Was lovely and cool yesterday; assumed it would be the same today so went off to Farmers Market then came home to start Major Housecleaning Event. Just as I got started in "my" room, which is always last and so tend to gets short shrift, the temperature and humidity shot up. Got quite cranky and tired and did a very slow job on the one room before flaking out for dinner with good intentions for tomorrow.

AQ:  We have prunus here and they really are lovely in Spring.  Also Red Hot Pokers. When is your big trip to Perth and environs? Little Miss very cute indeed; I like her little dress.

OG: Hope your daughter gets the outcome she wants from the settlement.

Clare: Oh my, a day behind and a dollar short as the saying goes....

Brenda: If the work on the house next door doesn't start soon, would it be delayed until Spring?

Heather: Good you had a good trip and reunion. Hmm, sounds like a time for a Plan B re day trips for the Canadian visitor.

Lindybird:  Went to car boot sales with my sister when i was in the UK a couple of years ago; they've been taking some of their 50-year collection of collectibles. Here we call then Swap Meets or Flea Markets.  Hold one in your driveway and it's a Garage Sale.  That's a lovely shot of dog and little buddy.

Diane: Norbert is the reason it got too muggy to get much cleaning done today - it was originally scheduled for Monday/Tuesday but snuck in early.

Fading fast here so will likely fall into bed soon. Have a good Monday everyone.

  • Good morning, all!  It's a beautiful, sunny morning here and I'm watching a female peregrine falcon incubating two eggs in a nest box in New South Wales - lovely!

Aquilareen, LM is looking gorgeous and I love the look of concentration on her little face!  Good to know the twins are doing nicely.

Annette, I didn't realise California even got hurricanes - I always think of the east coast when I hear of one.  Hope it doesn't affect you too badly.

Diane, nice to hear from you!

    Have a lovely day, everyone.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Does anyone need cheering up this morning?  June very kindly posted a link to this video on the Gabfest and it is just priceless.

  • Good morning.  These blue-sky days are wonderful, but we are also getting clear skies at night, so early mornings are quite cool (4 degrees here).

BRENDA - that building project next door sounds quite a nightmare for you - and I still don't understand how he could fell those trees before getting ownership of the land!

HEATHER - so pleased you got to the reunion and enjoyed it.  Sounds like as good thing that you had already planned to spend the night in Banchory.  I hope the driving licence issue can soon be resolved.

LINDA - wishing you safe journeys and a wonderful day!

AQ - good photo of LM at lunch - a lovely look of concentration on her face.  Sounds as if the other two were fairly predictable!

ANNETTE - sorry Norbert put an end to your good intentions - take care today, and stay safe.

CLARE - have a good week - and LIMPY too, of course!

Sounds like porridge calling, then a grocery trip to Morrison's later.  Garden centre with craft shop yesterday was quite a pleasant afternoon.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
