WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER (gasp!) 6, 2014

How can it be September; it was only just July......

  • Your musical tastes are rather more mellow than mine.  Limpy is a big Simon & Garfunkel fan where I'm a big Boomtown Rats fan (and I'm seeing them again for the THIRD time in November!).  We have a serious amount of music on the computer as downloading is so much cheaper than buying CDs.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Also have Coldplay, Elbow, & Elvis!!  Can't go on... must go....see its a lovely morning for the Great North Run.......

  • I do like a fair amount of Elvis.  Have a nice day, Lindy.

  • I hate to say this, Annette, but it's Sunday September 7th.  Sorry.

  • Good Morning ALL. It was a beautiful morning when we went to church earlier, but now the sky is white with glimpses of the sun. When I drew the blinds in our bedroom, it was very misty and because we had a window open, it was covered in mist also, on the inside.

Annette, Thank you for starting the week. The builder who wants to build on the garden next to us, has not yet completed the sale. He wants to demolish the existing bungalow and the council says he can't. I dread them starting to build, eventually. The trees they chopped down have still not been cleared away. He seems to be 'playing games' with the owners.

AQ, Happy Father's day to your OH and sons iL, especially , the father of the twins. His first celebration of being a Dad of three children. Hope you have a great time. Not too much noise though, you will wake the twins :-))

Linda, Don't buy too much at the boot sale. I thought you had recently had a 'clear out'. You must be so excited to see Amber tomorrow. Hope you have an easy journey.

  • Hello all and thank you, ANNETTE!

I am up to date with all of last week's posts but have not gone back any further, just haven't spent a lot of time online. Thank you all though, for your news and another big thank you to AQ for giving us precious glimpses of the past.

We made it to the School Reunion by the skin of our teeth! Train from here at 9am,taxi from Aberdeen to Banchory. We were the last to arrive, our ID badges were sitting in solitary splendour on the reception table. Somebody handed us a glass of wine, we chatted briefly with an old friend of OHs, were herded outside the hotel (Tor na Coille )for a group photo and then it was time for lunch. There may not be another big reunion as everyone is getting older so it was worth the effort (and extra expense!)to attend. OH and I had already reserved a room there for the night and so we travelled back on Friday but used our free bus passes to get back to Aberdeen:-))

The driving licence renewal is a work in progress. OH still hasn't received an appointment from the hospital regarding his cataracts and we are having a visitor from Canada in two weeks time who we would like to take here and there, locally. It's all a big mess and no-one regrets it more than my dear OH. I am trying to keep him cheerful---

    Take care, all

  • Brenda - Am hanging my head in shame- we bought a paperback book each, two jigsaws ( one of a dear little foal in a field of buttercups, for Tomasz) and I bought two Coronation commemorative mugs - I have so many now they don't fit on the shelf! Never mind, I shall stash them away & one day they can all be sold together. Oh, & I found a lovely little necklace of green glass beads for myself, it was only 50p and will look nice with a greeny bluey blouse.....
  • Sounds like you've been quite restrained, Lindy - the necklace sounds lovely.  You can't go to a car boot sale and then buy nothing at all.

  • See that Mo Farrah won the Great North Run today - well done him! Heather - Glad that you enjoyed the reunion (& managed to get there!). As you say, there might not be another one. Hope the Licence can be sorted out soon.
  • I'll have that printed out & framed, Clare:  "You can't go to a car boot sale and then buy nothing at all"........  LOL!!!
