How can it be September; it was only just July......
Sorry, have been too occupied/preoccupied to keep up over the last few days. Gardening Group on Tuesday was interesting (about poisonous plants), as was Bird Club Wednesday first of the season, a last-minute substitute about the Langholm Moor Project - Hen Harriers and diversionary feeding to protect Grouse (but I still don't see why they want to shoot Grouse anyway, or anything else!)
More later - J just arriving home.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
LINDY thank you..... We will be going down to see her a week on Monday. We will stop overnight and on Tues we will go into Edn. There is an exhibition on at Holyrood, "The Commonwealths gifts to The Queen" which I want to see. We plan a Thai meal and if we can get tickets we will go to see "Calamity Jane" at the Playhouse. I know we can book on line but it would cost another £12, so we have decided to chance it on the night. Overnight in a travel lodge and home on Wednesday and we will collect Benson from his first stay in kennels. I am sure he will be fine and it is only 3 days anyway. Previously he has stayed in hotels with us or gone to stay with people we know, but we really felt he had to go into kennels while still young enough not to be upset.by it.
ALAN nice pic...... Benson goes for his haircut on Mon. OH has decided to come out in sympathy and will get his hair cut too......not at the groomers I hasten to add.
Dibnlib : I had my haircut the day before Bowie.
Blue sky, slight breeze, successful Sat morn - more weeds removed from garden (but every time I turn, I see another or two or three) and camera sorted. I have no idea how it happens but there were a number of 1 second videos on my camera. This morn I discovered how to delete them; now I only have to discover how they happened. I’m ready for tomorrow’s bus trip to the “Fringes of the Barossa”. Barossa Valley, that is.
Evening all: Nice morning with daughter; then home to lunch and the hammock.
Heather: Not a good work/relax balance - I simply overdo the work and then have just enough energy left to topple into the hammock. :-)
Alan: What? Tesco wanted to shoot a bird in one of their stores? Just how unenlightened can those people get!
dibnlib: Ah - too bad your Mom may not realize it was her birthday; how nice your Aunt Jean made the trip. Hope you had a good day out. My brain and fingers don't always work in unison either, especially with words that sound identical. That exhibition at Holyrood should be interesting. Geez - that's a big markup in the online price of a ticket for Calamity Jane!
Lindybird: Have fun with the family. Lovely hydrangea (acid soil by the looks of it).
Alan: Love the "highlights" in Bowie's hair do.
AQ: Those mysterious one-second videos show up on my camera when I've pushed the wrong button. Will you be seeing any wineries in the Barossa Valley?
Brenda: Thanks for the update on dear Margo. I like the idea of a trellis on top of a fence - it's a nice decorative detail.
Wasn't as hot as forecast today, but they're threatening higher temps tomorrow - maybe they'll be wrong again. Have a good Saturday everyone.
Didn't get back on here yesterday evening - was still freezing garden produce and then had a long phone conversation with Daughter, making arrangements for spending time with them - starting with coffee (at Simpson's, for those who know Inverness) on Monday morning.
Packing today, to set off tomorrow. Will also have to get more Beans and Courgettes into the freezer and water veg patches again tonight.
Wishing LINDA a good visit to Tomasz, AQ a good trip west, and DIBNLIB a good few days away.
Taking advantage of some sun and breeze, to hang out the sheets but there are leaves falling off the trees. Autumn is definitely starting.
Dibnlib, I am sure you will receive a big welcome from Benson when you return home. Our last dog always had to go into kennels when we went away. As they also had a grooming parlour, I would always book him in to have a bath, nails clipped etc. before we picked him up. When we were away for a couple of weeks, he would race for the car, as if to tell us we had been away far too long.
OG, You do sound busy. I guess you are feeling better than you were during the week. Have a lovely time with your daughter and enjoy all the restaurants :-))
Annette, Did you get any of that promised / threatened rain at the beginning of the week ? The garden always seems to appreciate the rain more than the tap water.
I would think that Linda will already be with Tomasz ( not forgetting his parents ).
We did enjoy last night's party. The invite said, drink and nibbles, so we had eaten a light meal before we left home, but there was a buffet table, laden with so much food. There were about 20 of us and the hostess was begging people to take home some of the remaining food.
