I have just had a look at Sanibel cam and I see an Osprey has arrived. No idea who it is - is it Ripply from last year or a new bird. I remember last year finding a facebook/blog page about this nest but for the life of me can't remember what it was so can't compare images from last season, so if anyone else can remember......
Thanks Jaydee for another informative blog. Like the slide show at the end, the blogs just gets better and better!
I think the intruder is going to remain a mystery. :-)
EJ's Memorial Balgavies Loch Ospreys 2023
Thanks, MaryGK. There are so many matches in the head and chest patterns that it seems likely the recent visitor is the 26/3 female. Which is sad, because if it is she probably never found a male this year, despite a few 'unattached' ospreys in the Kielder area.
It is sad Jaydee when you think of them making the long journey back to Africa and end up not breeding, probably there are a lot of non-breeding Ospreys out there, lets hope she meets one of those 'unattached' ospreys that you mention before she leaves on migration.
Latest from Roy Dennis on Blue XD & Green J, sadly they were unsuccessful this year in raising chicks. Green J is getting on now too, 23 I think, she must have contributed many many chicks over the years to the Osprey population.
Thanks MARY...but what sad news Poor XD and Green J I feel quite choked
Patily - I do too, it is such a pity, but then that is nature.
I have probably missed this Update on her Migration too, but will Post again as it seems she went for a bit of a wander in July.
GREEN J MIGRATION CHART
