I have just had a look at Sanibel cam and I see an Osprey has arrived. No idea who it is - is it Ripply from last year or a new bird. I remember last year finding a facebook/blog page about this nest but for the life of me can't remember what it was so can't compare images from last season, so if anyone else can remember......
Thanks for finding the link Starling and the nelson update. I dont know why they didn't put the fish on the nest. Unless Nellie of course has given up. The hydromen were clearly on the nest as they have removed Tag.
Tag has not been recovered. If you look carefully he is hidden by a stick.

Thanks tiger, difficult to see on phone screen. It apoears he died of the cold as he got stuck in the sticks and couldn't get back to nest bowl with Nel and Nellie last night. Apparently he did the same a couple of days ago but freed himself but last night was obviously a step to far for the hungry wee mite.
Just looked in and Nel he/she appears weaker in my eyes bless the wee little one, its hard to watch now, pity they didn't put a fish on the nest.
Completely agree Tina, I asked that in chat, but got the usual snippy reply. Even Nellie is not quite right today, no idea what is going on with her.

Been out all afternoon and wondering what was happening on the Nelson nest - makes uncomfortable viewing but I did think a few days ago that it would be too much for her although tried to think positively. Poor wee Nel - it's heartbreaking - just hope the inevitable happens fairly quickly for wee Nel's sake
the mods have sent an email asking for a salmon to be placed on the nest - not sure this is the answer as what happens the next day and Nellie may not even feed Nel I fear it is too late for Nel also and we as humans seem to want to prolong the agony. They are now phoning rescue/rehab centres also to see if Nel can be rescued.
As Starling said don't know what has happened to Nellie overnight or since yesterday but she appears to have just given up.
Yes Lmac Nellie's behaviour is very strange. I watched a nest a few years ago where fish were scarce and the male disappeared. The female didn't give up. Sadly the chick did die. Nellie however has fish on site and is not even trying to fish for herself.
Its really odd she looks at pleading chick and then at the tray and then just goes back to standing
Nellie has been behaving strange since the night of Tuesday 1 July. The fireworks seemed to unsettle her.
