I have just had a look at Sanibel cam and I see an Osprey has arrived. No idea who it is - is it Ripply from last year or a new bird. I remember last year finding a facebook/blog page about this nest but for the life of me can't remember what it was so can't compare images from last season, so if anyone else can remember......
Very sad news but relived that the female is back.
Thank you CHLOE and SHEILA What heartbreaking if not unexpected news. Poor wee mites. I wonder what happened to the female? I hope she is OK ....a long time to be away....nearlt 3 days!
Karen W said:Few days ago at the caerlaverock nest, whilst the female was shielding the chicks from the pouring rain, the male, Yellow 80 fed her. it is just so touching to watch :-) I have also seen him feed the chicks and then the female takes over :-))
Awww :-*

I cant say where the nest is for safety reasons but 2 chicks have hatched and are doing OK as of this afternoon
Great news Paul wherever the two little chickies might be. Always good to know that nests are successfully breeding.
Very sad about what has happened at Tweed Valley, I wonder if they will switch to the back up nest presuming there are eggs/chicks in it? I doubt if we will ever find out what made the female stay away from the nest, something must have happened to her though as she is an experienced and successful female.

Forestry Commission has issued a press release about Tweed Valley.
They are hoping it is the same female, and say they have mated again, but have not confirmed it is definitely her.
I am surprised they are suggesting there is still time for a second clutch though, as I would have thought it is now way too late in the season for that to be a reality - more likely just pair bonding again? What do others think?

I agree Chocoholix, think its too late now for a second clutch. Wonder why they have not confirmed that it is definitely the same female, I am sure there was a blog that said it was the same female.
Blog
Maybe just wording, and should have read A female has returned and not THE female has returned.
To be fair they do say it is very unlikely, but given that, I'm not sure they should be trying to raise people's hopes it is even a possibility.
I do hope they will be able to confirm the female's identity one way or another though, as this has been quite a legendary pairing over the years...
If it was a different female would the male "have taken" to her so immediately
