I have just had a look at Sanibel cam and I see an Osprey has arrived. No idea who it is - is it Ripply from last year or a new bird. I remember last year finding a facebook/blog page about this nest but for the life of me can't remember what it was so can't compare images from last season, so if anyone else can remember......
And gone again???????
And gone again???????What;s happening?
Starling - thanks for the info this morning, I too looked in before I went out and noticed the male sitting and no sign of the chicks that were at the front of the nest. So pretty obviously they have disappeared since the cam web off last night at 5pm and coming back up this morning.
I heard voices yesterday afternoon at the nest when the rain was pouring and I also heard a dog bark!
As I type one osprey has again landed and flown off again so they are about.
I wish Tweed Valley would update but I expect they probably will have to review the footage before advising us.
2 birds around nest
Hi Patily - I am so hoping it is the female.
They are both back, one on the perch and the other on the nest!
Wonder what has happened KAREN? Haven't they been together for 11 years?
Bird on nest was just egg cupping
Both on perches opp sides of nest
Yes Patily, this is their 11th season. This has always been a good nest. I've no idea what has happened - we will have to wait until TV review the footage and advise.
Both birds look comfy enough with each other so I think the female has returned. TV seemingly can identify her. When Emma was there, she told me one of the guys there can recognise her by a mark that resembles concorde on her forehead.
I agree They seem OK with each other. Whatever happened its sad about the chicks but good, if it is her, that shes OK
