I have just had a look at Sanibel cam and I see an Osprey has arrived. No idea who it is - is it Ripply from last year or a new bird. I remember last year finding a facebook/blog page about this nest but for the life of me can't remember what it was so can't compare images from last season, so if anyone else can remember......
TIGER - I was thinking of the time between Egg 1 and Egg 2 and was going to speak to Joanna to see if she felt this would be a problem.
This nest has been unfortunate in recent years only rearing 1 chick with unfortunate circumstances affecting the other two.

You will not find many gaps between eggs longer than that.

[/quote]I doubt I've managed to include the posts above in this! The Nest 1 female was new last year and the nestcam went off before eggs were laid. When it was possible to restore coverage, one chick, very young, had died. Another died the same day but the third fledged as a healthy juvenile. The female's inexperience may have played a part in the deaths but we don't know. We didn't know what the gap was last year between eggs 1 and 2. All we can say is that the adults have been very good incubators this year so far. A third egg may be laid more quickly than is the norm because of the long delay between eggs 1 and 2, but it is uncharted territory!
If that last one came around 16,00 then she will almost certainly miss an ovulation and it will be into a 3 day turn round,

Thanks very much for that info, Ospreyafishionado. Love your name!
3rd egg at Bassenthwaite
Thanks for that news ALAN
Aberfoyle have confirmed that Katrine has 3 eggs.
Cheers Alan - been waiting news from Aberfoyle and guessed there must have been some activity since first egg April 22.
Presumably Irma on one or more eggs - I am not up-to-date:
