I have just had a look at Sanibel cam and I see an Osprey has arrived. No idea who it is - is it Ripply from last year or a new bird. I remember last year finding a facebook/blog page about this nest but for the life of me can't remember what it was so can't compare images from last season, so if anyone else can remember......
Hi tiger, watched this yesterday. I think the inference is that it was purposely left out for them. There had been a severe shortage of food to the nest and the resultant sibling rivalry was severe. I think some kind soul hoped to save lives, however hasn't helped little eaglet. watchibg on and off yesterday the littlest eaglet got about 6 bites all day. The other ate the rest. The older eaglet is relentless in its bashing, and I think it will continue until the smaller is eliminated from the food chain It doesn't look good and the brutality of it all is so much worse than last year. Naming has been postponed, which I think is quite right. I think today will be decisive at this nest. The chatter is as brutal on both sides and the mods seem to cut everything that is an observation instead choosing to state little eaglet will be fine and all is normal. You have to hope they are experts and know .
What an oh so familiar story this is.
ChloeB & Tiger's Osprey Data
Yes the FB page for the eagles is rather an emotional place just now.
Tiger Signature
Hmm not a nice place but as I don't have Facebook I cannot comment. However I am sure that it is not correct to send in the cavalry to rescue him. Yesterday there were so many people horrified that meat would be left. I see no difference to this and eagles4kid s. They are providing food for lucy and there is a video of hearts from deer that were fed-exd to the field. Some believe that is justified - what's the difference I ask in trying to save a new life or preserve an old injured life
Anyway I have made a decision not to watch live until next week but will read the Facebook updates and Hancock pages in the hope of a small slither of survival. I see on Facebook somebody reckons they are chums this morning - that will last till breakfast . Think I need to toughen up
Tiger, would they consumme little eaglet if it didnt make it

Dunedin Osprey Cam
I have gotten word from Sparky Jones that the parts are in and we are waiting for the techies to install them. Shouldn't be much longer before the cam is streaming again!
Sparky reports that Stirling and Pinella are nesting, so it will be interesting to see if they have surprised us with some eggs !!!- Jean
I visited this nest in May 2012 just before the single young fledged - and am scheduled to visit the nest again in May this year on a trip to Clearwater then down to Sanibel and Captiva for osprey-holic.
