  • It looks like a Damselfly, ALICAT they're beautiful, I've had quite a few in the garden this year, Red ones. :-)

  • A stunning Hawker: given the colouring and taking account of where you live, I think it is a Common Aeshna male.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Surely much bigger than a Damselfly.

  • Hello everyone, I've just been reading and catching up with you all, I've been elsewhere while a certain lady osprey was MIA ... and have since got a massive headache, combined with lack of sleep and computer screen. Was so happy to see her return, and now I can take a break and catch up with other things. :-)

Margo so good to hear your treatment is doing its job, what a relief after all you're going through with it.  Thanks Heather for keeping us informed.

Lindy Lovely photo's thanks, I hope you have a wonderful family w/end!! :-)

I'm so sorry but can't remember who has done and said what, so cannot reply, oh how I wish I had a working brain!

someone asked if my lilies were Stargazer, yes I believe they are, I've had them a few years now, and put on a brilliant show. I've also Tiger lilies, and another kind which are yellow not sure what kind they are though.

Have a Wonderful Bank Holiday W/End whatever you all are doing. :-)

Lovely picures AQ, and fine storytelling as usual. That tree looks very, very old. Any idea what the plaque on it said?

My pic of the plaque is too poor to reproduce here. It reads

"50th anniversary of the 1956 flood
    Mannum commemorations 13-19 October 2006
Officially opened by Mayor Ian Mann OAM
    of the Mid Murray Council
    on Sunday 15 October 2006
    at Mary Ann Reserve"

It has nearly put me off writing on here at all, except I would miss all you Lovely People.

I sometimes feel the same way. But here I am again!
    I enjoyed your pics.

We have a new doorbell, an upgrade from none at all. It's nearly 2 weeks but OH hasn't noticed yet. We've had no visitors, not even politicians for the coming election!!! OH was out yesterday when LittleMiss was allowed to press the button. At the moment it plays "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" - that brought a smile to LM's face. However I am thinking of changing it to "Banjo on my Knee".

  • Trip saga continued: After lunch we had a one hour cruise on the River Murray down from Mannum. Lady driver/commentator was extremely interesting. Birds that had disappeared during the 9-year drought are returning. Some trees will not recover. Along the bank a mixture of dead and live trees.

These pics were all taken from the boat through the window. Mostly I've cropped the parts of the boat.  My new camera has 2 lens, of course the zoomier one was at home. I had enough to cope with learning to use the new camera without swopping lens.
    Here be Ducks

    Coots

    Pelican

    Pelican convention

    Swan

The operators produced chicken skins to attract the kites. The only one I managed to capture. A Whistling Kite, I think. Not sure I'm happy with feeding wildlife for tourists, but I do feed Pidge (dove) on my back lawn, so who am I to cast stones . . .

    to be continued

  • Hi all: Just had a quick read. Thanks Lindybird and AQ (also Alicat for cute pic) of various stately homes, birds, boats, etc.

Heather: Wonderful to hear that Margo is responding; thanks so much for updating us.

Brenda: Will pass on the jetpack.

Lindybird: Spent the entire day lolling; off to San Juan Capistrano for dinner with friend.  New Year Resolution (starting September) is to slow down.

  • Good Morning. Dull here. Must get going ready for shopping to feed the multitude. AQ thanks for interesting pics. NiteOwl take care of yourself.
