This is the new thread for posting reports of osprey sightings, whether on the internet, in the press or in real life.
For the benefit of any new or less frequent viewers, it might be helpful if the first person to refer to a regular online source of information, for example Faune-Aquitaine, provided a link and a brief explanation of what the site is about.
Let the migration season commence!

I doubt there will be any further osprey sightings in the UK this year - for comparison, the last sighting reported in 2009 was on 21st November.
As it has a relevance to sightings, this is an updated version of my spreadsheet of osprey ring IDs. I think the 2010 page now includes all the ringed birds we heard about in 2010, but let me know if you spot any omissions.
I've retitled the thread "Osprey Sightings 2010" as I anticipate we will start a new one whenever the need first arises in 2011. Hope all OK.
Hi Sue,
Many thanks for your superb spreadsheet. One minor addition I've spotted on your second tab, which should help us identify first time returners next year are the 2009 young from Tweed (all Blue rings): LK (Tokyo) LL (Caledonia) & LM (Stig). I'm not aware if the details for the back up nest or the nest at Caerlaverock were ever published.
Thanks again
Mark
Hi Sue, Thanks for the spreadsheet. We discussed Olly earlier this year, if you recall she (yes she) has only a metal ring placed on her left leg by a Channel Isles vet, after the rescue. It has been agreed that it would be difficult to read in the field. The number is............F26765.

Not only have the sightings not finished yet, today there were two!
01/12 09:00 LINCS: Kirkby on Bain GPs.
01/12 DEVON: Exminster Marshes RSPB.
Well isn't that just typical, though I wish they had left, for their own good.
Thanks for the comments on the spreadsheet, Mark and jsb.
I don't know if this has come up before - it's the BTO's annual report for 2009 on sightings/recoveries of their metal rings
The osprey was spotted by Graham Fordham of Lincs bird club:"Driving slowly through the Snow (09.00 ish) when Osprey swooped out of the conifers circled and went in the direction of Kirkby on Bain pits."
