This is the new thread for posting reports of osprey sightings, whether on the internet, in the press or in real life.
For the benefit of any new or less frequent viewers, it might be helpful if the first person to refer to a regular online source of information, for example Faune-Aquitaine, provided a link and a brief explanation of what the site is about.

Alan thanks for this link. I so wish I could drive so I could get round all these places. Such a lot of different species. Just watched Autumnwatch which I recorded and they were saying what a marvellous place Dorset is for seeing all the birds setting off on migration.

Margo, a lot of the sightings in recent weeks have been juveniles, obviously reluctant to set off on migration. If the weather forecast for next week is to be believed then maybe an icy blast from the North will make up their minds for them.

Thanks Alan. I'm pretty sure I saw a distant osprey this week, flying over Pagham harbour with the tide rising - it was listed on the sightings board at the visitor centre. Pagham is just to the E of Chichester, across Selsey Bill, so it's possible the same birds are involved, moving around depending on conditions.
A picture of the scene (minus osprey) when the tide was higher. Chichester cathedral is on the left, Goodwood racecourse on top of the South Downs to the right.
