when is the best time to visit the reserve to see Starlings , mid Oct onwards? Also which has been the best vantage point New Fen or Joist Fen ?
I've always found the best, fairly local, RSPB reserves for autumn starlings in numbers to be either Fen Drayton or Snettisham.

As Roger says, there are lots of other places that we can recommend for you to enjoy the fantastic spectacle of a winter starling roost. These includes such as RSPB Strumpshaw Fen and Dunwich Heath near RSPB Minsmere.
