Visit and sightings 29 Dec 21

Had a fantastic first visit today to Lakenheath Fen RSPB. We saw:

3 x Kingfishers

1 x Marsh Harrier (over the opposite bank of the Little Ouse) a first for us.

2 x Great Egret (same general area as the Harrier) and also a first for us.

these above were the special birds but also seen were woodpeckers, many species of tit and various other birds.

Excellent first visit,

Thank You RSPB

  • Hello,

Thank you very much for your sightings- these are always appreciated- and I am so pleased you enjoyed your visit.

We aim to help any visitor to appreciate the wildlife and provide an environment where that is possible so for you to have seen things you are pleased with on your first visit with some new species too, is great news. It won't be long before our cranes return (late February usually), and we see lots of cuckoo, hobby, various warblers, booming bitterns, a couple of grasshopper warblers and nightingales too in the Spring so things are always changing.

Hope to welcome you back again soon,

    Heidi (Visitor Experience Officer).
