Just wanted to say what a good day i had today at the fen . I was finally , after 3 luckless visits, lucky enough to see the oriole with fellow fortunate peers .What good views we got and for some time too. In addition to which i saw a bittern , our resident whooper and the ever reliable majestic marsh harrier. I also located the wispy 2 bee orchids , Talking of plants anyone know what the pink cow parsley looking plant is?
To cap the day in the carpark on my return a jackdaw was self serving food on a man's hand . Strange but wonderful . Laters.
Sounds like you had a great day. That male oriole was behaving like a star on Sunday! We hope to see you at the reserve again soon.
David
Sounds great! Was the pink plant Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) by any chance?
Two other possibilities are hogweed or hemp agrimony whereabouts did you see it?
