lucky to see pair of marsh harriers from new fen viewpoint on sat 24th march.Also whilst having our picnic lunch saw approx 4 common buzzards high on thermals above car park near to railway crossing.Volunteer John was on great form as usual sighning up more members.

It was certainly a smashing day on Saturday. It was only the lack of migrants that reminded us that it was still only March!! I counted 13 Marsh Harriers at one point and some fanastic aerobatic displays by a couple of the males; not seen that before. Best bit was the the 5-6 minutes of watching a Bittern fishing from Joist viewpoint before it went out of view. This wouldn't have been possible before the opening up of the vistas in the reedbed. Excellent.
