We nearly fell out of our boots when we saw it. I wonder if your White Stork was the one that flew 60deg east into Rockland Broad around 11.15 hrs last Thursday and was later seen twice on the Marsh behind Claxton Manor 52.58303 -1745453. None of the locals spotted it there were very few people about at the time.
Hello Chris. Thank you for your message. Yes it probably was the same bird. Presumably it was also the same one that was seen at Minsmere a couple of days before. They are always a great bird to see!
I saw the stork during its stay on the river Waveney on the Norfolk Suffolk border at Aldeby.
The bird has roamed much of the country and is in my view a genuine migrant unlike some storks seen over the years. For example free flying birds from Thrigby Hall in east Norfolk.
Whilst up in Dumfies and Galloway last week a RSPB volunteer added some evidence to sugest that we do have a Stork wandering about a bird was sighted near the main road on the way to Loch Ken just recently.
