Best views I ever had of The Black Arrows was outside of Glasgow Central Station when I was a toddler. My mum was always amazed that I could remember it, because I was only three at the time, but it's still etched in my mind. An amazing sight!
Thanks for your post. I have never heard of a corvid roost being referred to as the "black arrows" but its a great video!
With the RAF just round the corner it seemed an appropriate name for them. I assume they will grow in numbers, to some extent, as the year progresses?
I love the video but aren't they starlings, not corvids? The Black Arrows is a great name.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Totally entrancing video PS with great appropriate soundtrack & one of the best murmurations I have seen! Thanks for posting!

Good morning all,
Yes Clare they are indeed starlings! Apologies, my computer wasn't allowing me to view the video properly yesterday.
Paul S, in response to your question, they do increase in number but due to out close proximity to RAF Lakenheath, we have to disperse the roost if it increases to a certain number.
Some information about it can be found on this web page:
www.rspb.org.uk/.../work.aspx;
We also have a more detailed statement that we can send round. If any f you would like it, please ring 01842 863400 or e-mail lakenheath@rspb.org.uk;
Many thanks,
David White
Communications Officer
I wonder what they would do about the roost if the starlings didn't happen to roost within the protection of a reserve?
Clare, I can't really answer that question but as I said above, I can send you a more detailed statement which explains the rationale behind the dispersal in more detail.
If you would like us to send it to you, please either give the office a ring on the above number or send us an e-mail.
