Took my first ever trip to Lakenheath today and the highlight was undoubtedly spotting a bittern within 10 minutes of arriving in the hide. Sorry that the pictures aren't great but hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I did taking them.
How lovely for you, Dave! I'm delighted you saw such a stunning bird.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Don't worry about the quality of the photos; they captured the moment, and its the experience that matters!!

Thanks for sharing these pictures Dave M. I think they are fantastic! They show a bittern doing what a bittern does best!
In reply to David White:
Great Pictures. You have proved the existence of Bittern at Lakenheath. Can you post a picture of David White to prove his existence. Only joking. Well Done pictures say it all.

Trust me neighbourhoodjim, you don't want to see a picture of me! As for proving my own existence, I studied philosophy at university for three years and I have not manged to do so yet!
