I took a photo of this duck at Frampton Marsh today and I don't have a clue what it is. Can someone help?

Mac
Hi Mac,
This is a drake mallard....but it's a semi-domesticated bird, which means it's started to lose some of the typical wild colours and these have started to be replaced by paler/whiter plumage. Why this happens in wildfowl I don't know, but if you notice domestic geese, turkeys & ducks are often pure white. Not a natural colour, but the result of being kept in captivity. Bird watchers sometimes call these ducks 'Heinz 57' because there are so many varieities!
