Spectacular views of Knot at high tide today. Thousands of birds, wave after wave appeared through the distant gloom and landed close to the tide line, then moments later took to the air in a spectacular display before landing again. This happened time after time as each new wave arrived. There's a high tide birdwatch tomorrow (9.7 mtrs. @ 13.09, best we get is around 10mtr.) so hopefully should be just as good. Yes, I've got pictures, on film, durrr!. Best get there and take your own. Be early, the promenade will be well full. I think the meet is due to start at 11.00am.
Sounds good but I don't think I can make the Wirral this weekend. I was at Sealands on Deeside last Sunday but didn't get any further north.

It was a great event!
Another wonderful sight at high tide this last weekend. Thousands of Knot and Sanderlings close to shore forming spectacular displays. Top of the bill was a tan coloured hawk which swooped from a garden hedgerow and took a Sanderling from the outside of the main standing flock, in all about 6-8 secs. and regretably, no time for a positive ID.
